2018 MLB Postseason Betting Predictions – September 5th Edition

The final few weeks of the pro-baseball season are here. It will be an interesting chase to the 2018 MLB Postseason in both leagues. Let’s take a look at some of the teams that will be heading to October as betting favorites to win it all.

2018 MLB Postseason Betting Predictions – September 5th Edition

Los Angeles Dodgers

The LA Dodgers will find a way to get back into the playoff picture. I’m not at all certain about how they will do it, but currently, they are one game back on the wild card spot and only a half a game back on the NL West.

The Rockies currently hold that spot, but the Dodgers are charging back here as of late, winning eight of their last ten games. They’ll look to prove they didn’t add Manny Machado for nothing, even if he is likely to be added by the Yankees in the offseason. They need to continue their push, but they will make the playoffs yet!

Milwaukee Brewers

The Milwaukee Brewers have a one and a half game lead for the first wildcard spot over inner divisional rival, St. Louis. The Redbirds are reeling in September so far after posting a remarkable 22 wins in August.

They dropped their first three games so far in September and are looking like that run to relevance is taking its toll. I predict St. Louis will continue to fall back, but the Brewers have too much in their lineup to fade from the top wildcard spot.

I think they will face the Dodgers at home as they keep the playoff atmosphere alive taking the division race right down to the wire with Chicago, only to fall short.

Chicago Cubs

I expect the Cubs to find themselves in a similar matchup this year. I expect the Dodgers to defeat the Brewers, only to take on the Cubs for the third time in as many years.

Kris Bryant’s return to the team comes at a perfect time. Before long, the club will also welcome back closer, Brandon Morrow. The combination of Jon Lester, Kyle Hendricks, and Cole Hamels have been electrifying for the club on their way to the best record in the National League.

Boston Red Sox

Ok, this one is pretty simple: the best record in baseball, by a pretty large margin, and they have JD Martinez, Mookie Betts, David Price, and Chris Sale. Alex Cora is leading the charge for coach of the year with this club. They have very few weaknesses and a good mix of veteran leadership and grit and athleticism.

New York Yankees

This team has done a terrific job at making a run, but unfortunately, they play in the same division as the Red Sox. I expect them to lose in the wild-card game.

The Yankees are one of the 2018 MLB Postseason Betting favorites.

They have a good, no great offense, but their pitching is suspect at times. I’m not sure this team is quite ready yet but add some pitching depth, and we’ll likely be seeing them in the postseason every year like we are used to seeing.

Cleveland Indians

Have people forgotten how dominant these guys are? Now that LeBron is out of town, this team is the number one show in Cleveland, and for good reason. Not a lot of holes on this team.

Jason Kipnis is a tremendous leader of the clubhouse and the pitching staff is outstanding. Tito has his guys looking good and focused heading into the games that really matter.

They have created the biggest division lead in baseball at 14 games, but no one seems to give them the credit they deserve. I expect them to make it deep into the playoffs, maybe even challenge the Red Sox for the pennant.

These are the teams we are pretty convinced are heading to the 2018 MLB postseason play, as the season winds down!
