The second round of the US Open will bring an American flavor to the hard courts at Flushing Meadows. In four of the top matches in the Women’s 2nd Round Draw, we will see five American’s competing. Let’s preview these matches while making some Tennis Betting predictions.

2019 US Open Women’s Round 2 Odds, Preview & Expert Pick

Ashleigh Barty vs. Lauren Davis

Barty struggled in her first round match against Zarina Diyas, as she had to come from a set down to defeat the player from Kazakhstan. The Australian, ranked 2nd in the world, will now meet the United States’s Lauren Davis in the second round.

Davis advanced to the second round by defeating Swedish qualifier Johanna Larsson in straight sets. This is Davis’s seventh U.S. Open, and she has never advanced past the second round here. Davis is capable of shocking the tennis world, as she did upset Angelique Kerber this year at Wimbledon.

These two have only had one prior meeting, with Barty winning in three sets in their 2014 match.

Barty was a little slow out of the gates in the first round, but look for her to bounce back into form for her match with Davis.

Madison Keys vs. Lin Zhu

Keys, the 10th seed in the tournament, advanced to the second round by defeating Misaki Doi in straight sets on Monday. By defeating Zhu, Keys has now won seven straight hardcourt matches.

Zhu defeated Xinyu Wang to advance to the second round. Zhu has never advanced past the second round of a Grand Slam event.

The American Keys will have the crowd behind her, and she should be able to use her power game to advance to the next round.

Elina Svitolina vs. Venus Williams

This one should be very competitive, as the 5th seed Svitolina will take on the 2-time U.S. Open champion Williams.

The Ukrainian Svitolina advanced to the second round with a straight set victory over Whitney Osuigwe. She will need to be ready for a tough match as she will face America’s Williams in the next round.

The 39-year-old Williams could be playing in her last U.S. Open. She won her first round match in dominating fashion, beating Saisai Zhang 6-1 6-0. If Williams wants to defeat Svitolina, she will need to keep playing this way.

Svitolina holds a 2-1 all time advantage over Williams, with their most recent match up ending in defeat for Venus in the first round of this year’s French Open.

This will be a very pro-Williams crowd, as they will be behind Venus knowing that this could be the last time that she plays at the U.S. Open.

Serena Williams vs. Caty McNally

Two Americans will meet in the second round, as the 8th seeded Serena Williams will take on Cincinnati’s Caty McNally.

Williams advanced to round two by defeating Maria Sharapova. McNally advanced in straight sets by defeating Timea Bacsinszky.

This will be the first time that the 17-year-old McNally will face Williams.

If Williams plays to her capability, she should have an easy time defeating Williams. This will be the biggest stage that McNally has ever been on, as there should be a full house for this one.
