Why should you bet on Tampa Bay?
The Lightning rebounded from a soft defensive effort in Game 1 to limit the Islanders’ chances on Saturday. Ben Bishop found himself watching the second and third periods from the bench in Game 1 but made 19 saves on 20 shots in Game 2, after permitting four goals in 13 shots in the first game. Thomas Greiss was still fairly good, stopping 27 of 31 shots, but he was not the brick wall that he had been in the first round against Florida or in Game 1. If the Lightning keep that sort of attack up in Game 3, they can take home ice advantage back.
Why should you put your money on the Islanders?
The Islanders were a wild card entry into the Stanley Cup playoffs, and while they were frustrated not to win Game 2, heading home with a split is a big victory for them. The Islanders need to go back to the things that brought them to the second round, such as maintaining their spacing and keeping an eye on their coverages when the Lightning have the puck. They turned the puck over way too many times in Game 2, giving the Lightning a series of odd-man rushes that all but guaranteed that Tampa Bay would light the lamp.
Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction
The Islanders have responded extremely well to adversity in these playoffs so far. I’m predicting a bounce back from New York, leading to a 3-1 win.
