The San Jose Sharks and the Nashville Predators are heading to Game 7 in their Western Conference semifinal round. Both teams have won the three games played in their home arenas, and the Predators carried off a dramatic overtime victory in Game 6, as Viktor Arvidsson sent a backhand shot past Sharks netminder Martin Jones just over two minutes into the extra session to bring the Predators a 4-3 win. Find out more about the updated NHL odds here.

Why should you bet on Nashville?

This team keeps getting gut-punched, and they keep responding. They went down 2-0 in the first period, and then they got an odd backhand goal from Roman Josi and then benefited from some poor San Jose defense during 4-on-4 play at the start of the second period that got Ryan Johansen the tying goal. It was an awful play by Melker Karlsson that put the puck on Arvidsson’s stick early in overtime, and all of a sudden the Predators had won. They keep hustling, keep grinding, and they have the confidence to win in Calfornia.

Why should you put your money on the Sharks?

The Sharks were able to use their superior foot speed to get Nashville in a hole early, as Chris Tierney lit the lamp twice in the first period. They also showed that their power play is still one of the best in the NHL with a big goal in the third period. The problems that they are having have to do with keeping an eye on the Predators’ forwards in their defensive zone, as some of the passes that set up Colin Wilson to score in the third could have been knocked aside with more attentive work from the blueliners. If they can fix those issues they will advance and take on the winner of Dallas and St. Louis.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

Losing in overtime is a huge blow to the Sharks who blew two leads in this one only to see the Predators extend the series. I like the Predators to ride the momentum of that win to yet another huge upset in these playoffs. I’m predicting a 4-3 Nashville win.
