Bet the Ottawa vs Florida NHL Odds

On Thursday, the Ottawa Senators head south to take on the Florida Panthers in NHL online wagering action. The Senators (31-29-8, 70 points) are in fifth place in the Atlantic Division and lost Tuesday night in a shootout to Carolina, 4-3. The Panthers (36-21-9, 81 points) are in third place in the Atlantic Division and lost an overtime thriller at home to Boston on Monday night, 5-4.

Why should you bet on the Senators?

When it comes to offense at even strength, the Senators are one of the best teams in the league. Their 2.8 goals per game average is good for eighth in the NHL right now. This is a team that scores a lot of goals, but their 3.0 goals against average (27th in the league) means that they have to play from behind a great deal. If they can get out ahead of the Panthers and move into more of a disciplined focus on defense, they will have a lot better chance of winning this one.

Why should you put your money on Florida?

While the Panthers have slipped in the standings as of late, their defense is still strong (#7 in the NHL at 2.4 goals allowed per game). Their overtime loss to the Bruins showed what happens when their defense gives way, because their offense (#15, 2.7 goals per game) is not strong enough to win a shootout against an elite offense in the league. However, Ottawa does not have nearly the offensive weaponry that the B’s brought to town, which is why the Panthers have a much better shot.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

I like the Panthers to turn things around and beat the Ottawa Senators, 3-1.
