Ottawa at NY Rangers NHL Playoffs Betting Lines Game 6

The New York Rangers had just finished evening up their Eastern Conference semifinal series with the Ottawa Senators with a pair of convincing wins at Madison Square Garden. Then, the series returned to Ottawa, but the Rangers forgot to bring their defense. The Senators erased two Ranger leads and then got an overtime-winning goal from Kyle Turris to give the Senators a 3-2 series lead. Now the series heads back to Gotham, with the Blueshirts on the ropes once again.

Ottawa at NY Rangers NHL Playoffs Betting Lines Game 6

Where: Madison Square Garden, New York City
TV: NBC Sports
Radio: Ottawa / New York

NHL Odds: New York Rangers -1½

Why should you bet on the Senators?

Ottawa got a much better outing from goalie Craig Anderson in Game 5, as he picked up 29 saves and led the Senators to their second overtime win in this series. The Senators showed that offense dynamism that had been missing since Game 2, as they got an equalizer from Derick Brassard with just 1:26 remaining in regulation. Five different Senators scored in the game, showing that offensive balance that has emerged occasionally for them this season. If they can bring a similar effort in Game 6, they shouldn’t need a Game 7 on their own home ice.

Why should you put your money on the Rangers?

The other two games in this series that have taken place in New York have been routs for the home team. They almost stole Game 5, too, despite their Swiss-cheese defense, when Michael Grabner looked like he had a goal early in overtime, but replay found that he had used a high stick to knock the puck into the net. Four different Rangers lit the lamp on Saturday afternoon, another good sign of their own offensive balance. If the defense can guard men in front of Henrik Lundqvist in key situations, like they did in Games 3 and 4, then we’ll be heading back to the Canadian capital for Game 7.

Betting Pick and Final Score Prediction

This series is too close not to go the distance, and I see the Rangers roaring back like they did against Montreal and in the third and fourth games of this series. I predict a 3-1 New York win.
