New York at Florida NHL Betting Guide

On Friday night, the Florida Panthers will host the New York Islanders in Game 5 of their Eastern Conference quarterfinal series. The Panthers held off the Islanders, 2-1, in Game 4 in Brooklyn to tie the series up at 2-2 and make it a best of three now — with two of those games in Miami. Find out the updated NHL betting odds here.

Why should you bet on New York?

Even though the Panthers shut the Islanders down in Game 4, the Islanders should take hope from the immense amount of open ice that has been available to them in the first three games. While the Panthers played solid defense all game long, the Islanders matched them in the first and third period. New York also skated well in Florida in the first two games of this series, so there’s no monkey to take off their back as far as playing well on the Panthers’ rink. John Tavares and Nick Leddy did produce some quality chances in Game 4, but they didn’t end up in the back of the net.

Why should you put your money on the Panthers?

For the first time in this series, the Panthers were finally able to suffocate the Islander attack. In Games 1-3, the Islanders had skated circles around the larger Panther defenders and had found their way to the goal. In this game, though, there were no paths to the net, which is why the Islanders only had one even-strength shot on goal in the first period. If Florida hadn’t given New York a stupid five-on-three chance near the end of the second period, this would likely have been a shutout for the Panthers.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

I like the Islanders to go down to Florida and come out with a stolen win. I’m predictint aht New York will win, 4-2.
