New Jersey vs Dallas NHL Odds Guide

Written by on March 4, 2016

On Friday night, the Dallas Stars host the New Jersey Devils in NHL online betting action. The Stars (38-20-7) are in second place in the Central Division and are coming off a 5-3 loss in Nashville, their seventh loss in eight games. The Devils (30-27-7) are in seventh place in the Metropolitan Division and just lost to Carolina, 3-1, on Tuesday night. The Devils face the Nashville Predators on Thursday night before heading to Dallas.

Why should you bet on the Devils?

Let’s face it — the Dallas Stars are a dumpster fire right now. They have dropped seven of eight, primarily because they have gone back to their 2014-15 ways of (not) playing defense. They have two pretty good goalies, in Antti Niemi and Kari Lehtonen, but neither is the sort of goalie who can steal a game when the blueliners are playing awful defense. The Stars have a powerful offense, but the Devils have the fifth-best defense in the NHL. If they can get out to an early lead and put on the clamps, they can win this game.

Why should you put your money on Dallas?

The Stars don’t have a very good defense right now, but the Devils are the worst team in the NHL when it comes to scoring goals (2.2 per game). So the Stars should be able to use their powerful offense to light the lamp against New Jersey and keep the Devils’ anemic scoring lines from getting through their defense. As with many games recently, this is a matchup that the roster has the talent to win.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

I like Dallas to figure things out at home and slug out a 3-2 in over the New Jersey Devils.
