On Wednesday, the Nashville Predators will be in the Pacific Northwest to take on the Calgary Flames in NHL online betting action. The Flames (27-34-5, 59 points) are in sixth place in the Pacific Division and just lost to San Jose on Monday night, falling 2-1 in overtime. The Predators (33-21-12, 78 points) are in fourth place in the Central Division and are sniffing around a wild card playoff spot after a 5-2 win in Colorado on Saturday. The Predators face the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday before heading to Calgary.

Why should you put your money on the Flames?

Home ice is not as much of an advantage in the NHL as it is in other leagues because of the sheer randomness of hockey — a bounce here and a bounce there can change a game more so than in some of the other pro sports. However, the Predators will have played in Colorado and then in Winnipeg, showing up in Calgary with tired legs from the night before. The Flames, on the other hand, will have had a day of rest after their home against San Jose. Given that the Flames are 29th in the NHL in goals against, power play percentage and the penalty kill, that’s the best source of optimism you can hope for unless the Predators suffer a big injury against Winnipeg.

Why should you bet on Nashville?

The Predators have been playing fairly well as of late, knocking off the Dallas Stars before heading on the road to start with a win in Colorado. They are still in the middle of the league in the big categories (11th in goals, 12th in goals against, 10th on the power play), but they are facing a Flames team that is not doing much well at all these days. The Predators have the table set for a big night against a team in the basement of the conference standings. Obviously, you’ll want to check the injury reports after the Predator-Jet game on Tuesday night, but as it stands this looks like a game that will be all Predators.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

I’m writing this before the Winnipeg games, but with things in their present state I’m picking a 3-1 Nashville win in Calgary on Wednesday night.
