Why should you bet on the Ducks?

Anaheim has really had two seasons this year. Before the teams went home for Christmas break, Anaheim went 12-15-6 and were headed toward the basement in the West. Many people were expecting the Ducks to fire Bruce Boudreau. However, after the break the Ducks went on a 34-10-5 tear, including a streak of 11 straight wins. This took them to the top of the Pacific Division, which they clinched on the last day of the season. The resurgence of Corey Perry and Ryan Getzlaf on offense was key to the Ducks’ revival. When paired with David Perron, Getzlaf has been terrific, which allowed Boudreau to move Corey Perry to the second scoring line, giving the Ducks two solid units.

Why should you put your money on Nashville?

The Predators can thank their 6-1-2 start to the season for their survival to hold on to one of the wild cards at the season’s end. Between October and February, Nashville did not play particularly well, but then between February and April they finished 17-9-6, doing well enough to move back into the playoff race. The Predators won two of the three meetings between the teams this season — but they all took place before the Christmas revival of the Ducks. Nashville does have three players who scored 50 points or more, and they could skate circles around Anaheim if the Ducks come out slow.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

I’m picking Anaheim to continue their momentum near the end of the season and come away with a Game 1 win. I’m predicting a 3-1 Ducks win.
