Why should you bet on the Avalanche?

The Avs did not knock off the Oilers up in Edmonton on Tuesday night, but they simply can’t hold the fort down against decent offensive teams. Some might view the high altitude as an advantage for Colorado, but it looked like the home team was the one that got tired late on Thursday as the Flyers poured in three goals in the third period alone. I might take the Avs with a 1.5-goal line favoring the Wild, but you’re not likely to find that given how close they are in the standings.

Why should you put your money on Minnesota?

As you can see from their places in the standings, the Wild and the Avs have a lot in common. They both hover around the middle of the league in goals per game, goals against and power play percentage. But the Wild have been playing a little better as of late. Their Tuesday night win over the Los Angeles Kings, one of the West leaders, showed a lot of polish as they held the Kings to just one goal while putting up a pair. Their rout of Calgary shows that the youth movement might finally be picking up a little bit of discipline on the defensive end to let their scorers go nuts.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

I like the Wild to roll into Denver and come out with a big win. I’m predicting a 5-2 final score.
