On Wednesday night, the Columbus Blue Jackets head to Toronto to take on the Maple Leafs. The Blue Jackets (31-40-8, 70 points) are in eighth place in the Metropolitan Divison and got doubled up by the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden on Monday night, 4-2. The Maple Leafs (28-40-11, 67 points) are in eighth place in the Atlantic Division and just fell to the Florida panthers, 4-3, on Monday night. Check out the updated NHL spread at MyBookie.

Why should you bet on the Maple Leafs?

To be honest, it’s difficult to pick a side here. Both of these teams are in the basement of their respective divisions, and they are both in the bottom two-thirds of the NHL in offensive and defensive statistics. The Leafs have picked up some impressive wins lately, knocking off Florida and Anaheim in the last two weeks. Of course, they have also lost five of six. However, Mike Babcock’s youngsters have lost a lot of close games, and playing at home will give them a jolt from the crowd.

Why should you put your money on Columbus?

The Blue Jackets can pour the goals in — in the past couple weeks they’ve put up six on the Devils and five on the Hurricanes. On the road, they had not won in a couple of weeks before they dismantled Carolina, 5-1, on Saturday. This is a team that can either score six goals (as in four of their wins since February 22) or give up six goals (as in their 6-0 blanking in Philly on March 5). I would only pick Columbus this game with a two-goal line.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

I like the Maple Leafs to take the action to the Blue Jackets and get on the board early. I’m predicting that Toronto will win, 4-2.
