Carolina vs Boston NHL Betting Guide

On Thursday, the Boston Bruins host the Carolina Hurricanes in NHL online betting action. The Bruins (38-23-7, 83 points) are in first place in the Atlantic Division and just knocked off the Tampa Lightning in overtime on Tuesday, wing 1-0. The Hurricanes (30-26-11, 71 points) are in sixth place in the Metropolitan Division and just knocked off the Ottawa Senators in a shootout on Tuesday night, 4-3.

Why should you bet on the Bruins?

The Bruins have been a little inconsistent this season, but right now they are playing great hockey on both ends of the ice. They swept Florida and Tampa Bay on a two-day trip south, winning both games in overtime. Their 3.0 goals per game gives them the #3 offense in the NHL, and their special teams (#9 in both the power play and the penalty kill) make them treacherous when someone heads to the penalty box. The Bruins aren’t going to catch the Capitals for the top seed in the conference, but they are solidifying their hold on the division.

Why should you put your money on Carolina?

I would take the Hurricanes in this game if the line were 2.5 goals. I think the Bruins are rolling enough on offense enough to win the game by a goal or two, but the fact that Carolina has the #8 penalty kill unit (83.2 percent) and their defense overall is #18 (2.7 goals per game) tells me that they will be able to keep it within two goals. Given the fact that the B’s have some issues on defense (#19 in the NHL at 2.7 goals per game), the Hurricanes should be able to get a goal or two of their own.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

I like the Bruins to stay on that roll and knock off Carolina by the score of 4-2.
