Calgary at San Jose NHL Lines Preview
The Calgary Flames (45-32-4, 94 points) visit the San Jose Sharks (45-29-7, 97 points) in the regular season finale for both teams. San Jose has secured at least third place in the Pacific Division, and they sit three points up — and out of reach — on Calgary, who holds a wild card in the playoffs. The Sharks lost, 4-2, to Edmonton on Thursday, while the Flames routed the Los Angeles Kings, 4-1, on the same night. So let’s take a look at the NHL odds and other info on this game.

Why should you bet on the Flames?
The Flames got what they needed to secure their wild card spot in Los Angeles, thanks to some courageous netminding from Jon Gillies, who came up from the AHL to make his first career start in relief of Chad Johnson, who took a lower-body injury in the Flames’ game against Anaheim on Tuesday. Dennis Wideman, Alex Chiasson and Freddie Hamilton all had tallies in the second period to put the game out of reach. If the Flames win, they will get to face the Sharks in the first round of the playoffs instead of the Blackhawks, so they have some motivation to stay away from the Western Conference leaders. If they bring the same offensive intensity that they showed against the Kings, they have an excellent shot against a Sharks team that also needs to win to keep pace with Edmonton and Anaheim in the Pacific Division.
Why should you put your money on the Sharks?
San Jose coughed up a 2-1 lead in the third period in their loss to Edmonton on Thursday night, as Milan Lucic put up a hat trick for the Oilers in that frame. Joel Ward and Brent Burns lit the lamp for San Jose, but they still have not beaten a team in the top eight in the West since January 31, when they beat Chicago. Martin Jones tallied 28 saves for the Sharks, but they don’t have that blistering speed that they brought into the playoffs last year, as centers Logan Couture (mouth) and Joe Thornton (left knee) remain on the shelf, trying to get ready for a playoff return. If you like the Sharks, you see them clamping down defensively on the Flames and taking two points in their last home game of the season.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction
The Flames have won just four of their past nine games, but in the other hand, San Jose has gone 3-9-0 in its past 12, with two of those victories being against the unconvincing Vancouver Canucks. Calgary has has played some decent hockey, on top of that, the Flames have won five of their last seven trips to San Jose. My Pick: Flames.
