Blues vs Stars 2020 NHL Game Preview & Betting Odds

There are plenty of great hockey games on the schedule this weekend, but perhaps none bigger than a Western Conference showdown on Friday night. The Dallas Stars will host the St. Louis Blues in this game, and first place in the Central Division will be on the line. There is a chance that one of these two teams will represent the Western Conference in the Stanley Cup Finals, and this should be a great game. Let’s see how the NHL odds will be for the Blues vs Stars.

Blues vs Stars 2020 NHL Game Preview & Betting Odds

St. Louis was able to snap a brief five game losing streak earlier in the week, and they have been dealing with some injury concerns of late as well. The Blues enter Wednesday with 76 points, which puts them in first place in the Central Division. Dallas comes into Wednesday with 74 points on the season, and they could get closer to the Blues with two points in this game.

Stars Want to Slow Things Down

If the Dallas Stars are going to win this game then they are going to have to find a way to slow down the pace. Dallas comes into this game averaging just 2.69 goals per game, while allowing just 2.53 goals per contest. The Stars won’t confuse anyone as an explosive offensive team, but they have a top goaltender in Ben Bishop. Bishop is a former St. Louis Blues keeper, and would love to have a great performance in this game.

Dallas does have a ton of veterans on their roster, and they know how to make a playoff run. Jamie Benn leads the team with 18 goals on the season, but Tyler Seguin has been the real offensive star for the team. Sequin leads the team with 32 assists and 46 points, and he could be in for a big night against the Blues.

Blues Need Binnington to Shine

Jordan Binnington had been struggling in recent weeks, but then Tuesday night happened. Binnington stopped all 17 shots that he faced against the New Jersey Devils to rack up his 7th shutout of his career. The Blues are allowing just 2.8 goals per game this season, but Binnington looked worn out of late. St. Louis will need to be solid on that end of the ice in this game.

St. Louis is averaging 3.1 goals per game this season, but they have also struggled to score goals of late. David Perron leads the team with 23 goals this season to go along with a team-high 56 points. Ryan O’Reilly leads the team with 41 assists this season, and the Blues should be able to find the back of the net a couple of times in this game.

Stars Sneak Past Blues in Dallas

These are two of the best teams in the Western Conference, and they are extremely competitive when they are on the ice. The St. Louis Blues have the much better roster, but they have not been playing at the top of their game of late. Dallas will need to slow down the pace in this game, but they should be able to get the job done at home. The Stars sometimes struggle to score goals, but they will find just enough offense to sneak past the St. Louis Blues at home. Bet the Dallas Stars over the St. Louis Blues in this Western Conference showdown.
