Blue Jackets vs Canadiens NHL Betting Game Preview

Posted by Aaron . on December 1, 2015 in

It takes an entire team effort to win on a regular basis, but it’s also fair to say that a team can steal a large number of NHL betting wins when they have a top notch goaltender between the pipes. The Montreal Canadiens have arguably the best goalie in the world, but they are now having to rely on their back-up more often than they would like to. The Canadiens will welcome in the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday night, and Carey Price will once again me a spectator.

Betting on the Montreal Canadiens

It’s a testament to how good this Montreal (18-4-3) is that they were able to continue winning with Price injured for a few weeks. Mike Condon did a stellar job in the back-up role, helping Montreal carry the best record in the league, whilst also keeping the goals against average for the season at a very nice 2.2 goals per game. It certainly helps that this team can score in bunches, and they are going to have to rely on that again with Price now likely to be out for another couple of weeks. He did make it back for 3 starts, and was able to get the win in each before getting hurt again. The Canadiens saw their 4-game win streak come to a halt on the weekend with a SO loss to the Devils. Montreal will have 6 of their next 8 games at home, which is good news for a team that has put together a 9-2-2 record on home ice.

Columbus will play against the Canadiens.

Betting on the Columbus Blue Jackets

No team has had a bigger hole to try and dig out of this season than the Columbus Blue Jackets (10-15-0). They started out the season by losing 8 games in a row, a streak that resulted in one of the earliest coaching changes in recent history. They have gone 3 games over .500 since that start, and are slowly starting to creep back into the playoff picture in the Eastern Conference. Columbus is still 7 points out of the final Wild Card spot, but that is not a number that should be considered totally insurmountable. They had another good run of games last week, winning 2 of 3, and playing a defensive style of hockey that saw them come up with a pair of 2-1 wins. Their sole loss of the week came at the hands of the St. Louis Blues, which is nothing to be ashamed of by any stretch of the imagination.

What Should You Consider Before Placing Your Bets?

Montreal swept the regular season series with the Blue Jackets last season, and there’s no reason to believe they can’t do it again this year. Montreal are just too good on home ice, and should have a comfortable win in this one.
