NHL Betting: 2021 Stanley Cup Analysis Update

Written by on June 1, 2021

Seven teams have punched their ticket for the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, with the eighth team being decided on Monday night. In the second round, the two top teams from each division will face off for divisional supremacy and the right to move on to the final four of the NHL. Will we see the Las Vegas Golden Knights finally win a Stanley Cup, or will we see the Tampa Bay Lightning move towards becoming a dynasty? Let’s take a look at the updated Stanley Cup odds, and see who the favorites are to win the 2021 Stanley Cup.

Updated 2021 NHL Stanley Cup Betting Preview

Colorado Avalanche +200

The Avs won the President’s Trophy as the best team in the regular season. They easily disposed of the St. Louis Blues and now have a huge battle with the Las Vegas Golden Knights. They outscored the Blues 20-7 and scored on 50% of their power plays. Las Vegas has a great defense, so if the Avalanche want to advance, we’ll have to see their “A” game.

Boston Bruins +475

Boston was the underdog in their series with the Washington Capitals, but they showed everyone that they were primed to make a run at Lord Stanley’s Cup. Boston’s power play has been good thus far in the playoffs, while their opponents, the New York Islanders, haven’t been able to stop the power play, so we’ll see if this helps the Bruins move on.

Tampa Bay Lightning +500

Tampa Bay will take on the Carolina Hurricanes, and this one should be a very highly contested series. Tampa took care of the Florida Panthers, as two of their top players made triumphant returns for the playoffs. Nikita Kucherov and Steven Stamkos. Kucherov missed the entire regular season but didn’t look like he had missed a beat, as he was dominant in the Florida series. If he and Stamkos are on top of their games, it’s going to be tough to stop the Lightning.

Las Vegas Golden Knights +575

It’s a shame that either the Knights or the Avalanche will be out of the playoffs after their second-round series. It took Vegas seven games to defeat a tough Wild squad, so they’ll come into their Avalanche series a little tired. Max Pacioretty sparked the Knights to the series win. He was very good against Colorado this year, so the Avalanche will have their hands full with him. The Knights have a great front 12 and a very good defense. Marc-Andre Fleury is one of the top goaltenders in the world, and he is primed for a great series.

Toronto Maple Leafs +750

The oddsmakers are banking on the Leafs winning their Game 7 battle with the Montreal Canadiens. Toronto has a very strong offense, and if they should win this battle, they’ll have a tough second-round opponent in the Winnipeg Jets waiting for them. The Leafs had a great regular season, and they could carry the momentum of a first-round win into their series with the Jets.
