NHL Betting: 2021 East Division Odds Analysis

Posted by Derrick Harper on April 1, 2021 in

It is a three team race at the top of the East Division in the National Hockey League. The Capitals, Islanders and Penguins are all fighting at the top of the division. But, a couple other teams that are interesting as the season comes down the stretch are the Bruins, Flyers and Rangers. Let’s take a look at the Updated Betting Odds to win the East Division for the 2021 season.

Update Odds to win 2021 NHL East Division

Washington Capitals +160

Do not sleep on the Washington Capitals. This is a team not too far removed from winning a Stanley Cup. The Capitals look to wrap up March with the lead in the division, but it’s slim. The Capitals are fun because Alexander Ovechkin is not the leading scorer this season. In fact, Ovechkin is 6 points behind Nicklas Backstrom, who has 23 assists and 13 goals.

New York Islanders +210

Despite losing back to back games recently against the Penguins, this is still a tough team to count out. The Islanders are not great on offense, in fact, middle of the pack. One thing the Islanders have been doing well is keeping the puck out of the net. New York is 4th, allowing just 2.31 goals per game.

Boston Bruins +380

The Bruins went to the Stanley Cup Finals in 2019 and were one win away. They did not get that win, and some think the window may be closing. But, the Bruins are still in playoff position, as they are 3 points ahead of the Flyers. The Bruins have been without goaltender Tuukka Rask since March 7th. In fact, he has played just two games in March.

Pittsburgh Penguins +380

The Penguins are just 4 points back of the lead in the division following their back to back wins over the Islanders. Overall, Pittsburgh has won 4 straight games. The Penguins are led by Sidney Crosby with 39 points, while Jake Guentzel is second with 34 points. Pittsburgh is scoring 3.2 goals per game.

Philadelphia Flyers +5500

After a hot streak of a season ago, the Flyers have fallen off the pace a little bit. The Flyers are 16-13-4 on the season. Philadelphia still has a chance at the postseason, but will have to be better defensively. The Flyers have allowed a divisional most 120 goals this season.

New York Rangers +6600

While Ryan Strome and Pavel Buchnevich are fun to watch, and have been putting up productive numbers, the Rangers are still a struggle to watch. New York takes the third most penalties in the league, and no not do anything exceptional to make up for that lost time.

New Jersey Devils +50000

The Devils only saving grace to not finish last in the division? The Buffalo Sabres. The Devils are bad, but not Sabres bad.

Buffalo Sabres +400000

This team is historically bad. The Sabres have just 6 wins on the season, and 16 total points. It’s brutal in Buffalo.

We are really looking forward to what will happen in the final weeks of the National Hockey League season. We expect a great race to the finish, and will be curious to see how the odds move as the games are played. Best of luck and enjoy the 2021 season.
