Colorado Avalanche vs New Jersey Devils NHL Betting Game Preview
When you play against teams from the same division or conference, it becomes a little easier to learn the style of play of each opponent. That is a whole lot harder with teams that you only meet twice per year, which is what happens when teams from opposing NHL betting conferences go head to head. We have an intriguing one in store on Tuesday night when the Colorado Avalanche skate into New Jersey to face the Devils.

Betting on the Colorado Avalanche
It still feels a little too early in the season to be talking about a playoff spot, but the Avalanche (9-13-1) are in a bit of a tough spot right now. The task ahead of them is not going to be an easy one, as they play in a Central Division that is about as tough as it gets. This week sees them embark on a 4-game road trip out east, with all of the games on tap being ones that they could very well lose. A poor trip could see the point gap between them and a playoff spot reach double digits. Last week was a pretty good one, as the Avs were able to snap out of a 3-game losing skid and take 2 of 3. The goals are coming pretty regularly from Colorado, but they usually find themselves in a position of needing to score, as they are playing a little loose on the defensive end of the ice right now. The Avalanche may actually welcome this road trip, as they have played better hockey away from home, although they are still a game under .500 on the road.
Betting on the New Jersey Devils
It has been an excellent start to the NHL head coach career of John Hynes, with his New Jersey Devils (12-9-2) currently playing a whole lot better than anyone expected. That is not to say that the year so far has been without some bumps in the road, but most of those have come courtesy of an offense that is not very gifted. The Devils are managing just 2.3 goal per game this season, but they also have a defense that is in the top 10 of the goals against average at 2.4. As you might have already guessed from those numbers, the Devils play more than their fair share of close games, and the fact that they have a winning record is a sure sign that they are a disciplined lot that are not afraid of some hard work.

What Should You Consider Before Placing Your Bets?
The Devils are going to have to work hard to get anything out of this, since the Avalanche have won the last 4 meetings. I like Colorado to get the win again, but would not be surprised if it came in OT.
