The NFL playoffs kick off on Sunday with the NFC South New Orleans Saints hosting the Minnesota Vikings at the Superdome in Louisiana. This is the third time these two teams have met in the playoffs since 2010 with both of these teams securing a victory in controversial fashion. Here is a closer look at how each team got here and who to expect to win this NFL Betting game.

Vikings vs Saints 2019 NFC Wild Card Odds & Prediction

Why Bet on the Minnesota Vikings?

The 2017 divisional game was the last time these teams met and the Vikings were able to pick up the win thanks to the Minneapolis Miracle. Minnesota limps into this matchup as they have lost three of their last five games but have a 10-6 record overall.

Those struggles could be linked to Dalvin Cook missing the past few games due to a shoulder injury, but he will need to be healthy and effective for a Vikings team that has the third highest rush rate in the league at 49 percent of their plays. Cook is a pro bowler in only his second season thanks to his 13 touchdowns and 1,135 rushing yards in only 13 games this season.

Kirk Cousins will have to manage the pressure he will surely face against a blitz heavy Saints team. His completion percentage drops a staggering 18 points when the line starts to break around him.

The defense will have their hands full stopping Brees, Kamara, and Michael Thomas. Danielle Hunter has been a force off the edge this year and will need to have his best game to move Brees off his spot. Xavier Rhodes has not been as good this year but is still a premier corner so look for him to follow Thomas on Sunday in his toughest matchup of the season.

Why Bet on the New Orleans Saints?

The Saints are loaded on both sides of the ball and possess arguably the best home field advantage in the NFL. They have won their last three games by more than 23 points per game.
The defense is a top ten unit which has traditionally been a weakness for the Saints but have turned it into a strength this year.

The offense averages 28 points a game and is led by Hall of Famer Drew Brees. His main targets include Alvin Kamara who has over 1,300 all purpose yards and six scores. Michael Thomas is the other mainstay of this offense as he has arguably been the top receiver in the NFL with 1,725 yards on 150 receptions and nine touchdowns.

The Saints will be looking to get revenge for the Minneapolis Miracle that happened last time these two met. They have not lost a wild card game since 2012 and are 21-6 at home since 2017 which is the best in the league over that span.

Expert Betting Pick for Vikings vs Saints

The Minnesota Vikings are plus-8 underdogs in this matchup and provide the best value on the moneyline +350 if they are able to win. The over under is set at 49 points on MyBookie in what is supposed to be a high scoring affair.

The New Orleans Saints have been on a tear this season and at 13-3 are one of the better teams to play on wild card weekend we have seen in a few seasons. They surely have not forgotten the ways they have been bounced from the playoffs in the past two seasons and will be on top of their game as a result.

The Saints are 4-1 in their last five games ATS and 12-4 for the whole season as they are clearly comfortable playing as the favorites. Look for New Orleans to cover the spread and put Minnesota away early without really giving them a chance in this game.
