Top Betting Odds and Picks for 2016 NFL Week 4

Miami at Cincinnati (-6.5), Thursday, September 29

NFL Week Pick: Cincinnati (-6.5)

Many signs point towards a regressive year for the Bengals, and those claims come with good reasons. However, Miami doesn’t have the outlook of a team that will be able to upset Cincinnati at home. Rookie head coach Adam Gase has a lot to clean up before his team can shine and matchup to a proven veteran-laden team like Cincy.

Indianapolis (-3.5) at Jacksonville, Sunday, October 2

NFL Week 4 Pick: Jacksonville (+3.5)

UPSET ALERT! After last season’s strong performance that included a breakout year for second-year QB Blake Bortles, I would be careful about underestimating Jacksonville at home. If the Jags can just get a bit better in the defense (as has been emphatically projected by many after their solid offseason dealings), I strongly believe that they will be able to shock Indy and the world with a win here.

Buffalo at New England (-7), Sunday, October 2

NFL Week 4 Pick: Buffalo (+7)

Duly note that this pick is largely pegged on the absence of Tom Brady. Last season, the Bills proved to be a handful to the Pats in both their meetings, and that was with Brady as the starting QB. With Brady likely sitting out of this game as he serves his four-game suspension, I’d expect Buffalo to keep this one close, if not deliver an outright upset.

New Orleans at San Diego (-3), Sunday, October 2

NFL Week 4 Pick: New Orleans (+3)

This is the thing; both Drew Brees and Philip Rivers are talented QBs by their own merits. The problem, however, is that Brees outperformed Rivers last year, and that was when New Orleans had the worst defense in the NFL. With the Saints having invested heavily (and better than San Diego) on improving both their O and D lines, I expect the new-look New Orleans to upset San Diego in this Week 4 fixture. Oh, and be on the lookout for a high-scoring affair in this game, as well, with the game total easily sailing over 50 points.

New York Giants at Minnesota (-6)

NFL Week 4 Pick: New York Giants (+6)

The Giants have been among the most talented teams in the league, but questionable coaching has limited them from performing to their full potential. That looks to change this year, following the promotion of their offensive coordinator to head coach. The Vikings, meanwhile, are expected to improve on their solid run in 2015, with Teddy Bridgewater taking more strides in his game (supported by the ever-lively Adrian Peterson at running back) and the defense continuing to play well. That being considered, this MNF affair should be a thrilling one. When all is said and done,  though, I expect Minnesota to eke out a win, but not by as many as six points, as NY will most likely fight to the very end, keeping the scores close and covering this exaggerated point spread.
