After going through the offseason moves made by various teams in the league, along with the past betting trends in the league and the early 2016 NFL odds, here are our top betting odds and early football picks for 2016 NFL Week 5.

Top Betting Odds and Picks for 2016 NFL Week 5

New England (-7) at Cleveland, Sunday, October 9

NFL Week 5 Pick: New England (-7)

Assuming Tom Brady’s four-game suspension goes through, this will be the week the New England starting QB makes his return. With that, you should expect nothing but a big game from the veteran QB, as he torches the Browns for a big double-digit win. Oh, and expect this line to go up as soon as Brady’s suspension is confirmed, so the sooner you jump on it at its current affordable price, the better value for you.

Atlanta at Denver (-6.5), Sunday, October 9

NFL Week 5 Pick: Denver (-6.5)

The Broncos have their QB issues and their offense is yet to exhibit a strong running game that can pick up the slack in the absence of a consistent passer. But offensive coordinator and head coach Gary Kubiak showed that he can create an offense from virtually anywhere, including his ball-hawking defense that can easily turnovers into offensive scores. If history holds true, Atlanta’s turnover-friendly offense should play right into Denver’s hands, giving the Broncos a solid opportunity to win this game, whether or not Mark Sanchez and his offense play at their utmost best in this clash.

San Diego at Oakland (-4.5), Sunday, October 9

NFL Week 5 Pick: Oakland (-4.5)

After beating the Raiders in their three previous meetings dating back to 2013, Oakland proved that it was ready to change the tide last year, beating San Diego 37-29 in October 2015 at the Qualcomm Stadium followed by a 23-20 OT win in December 2015 at the Coliseum. Expect this new dominance by Oakland to continue this coming season, as the much-improved Raiders take care of the Chargers in this Week 5 fixture at Oakland.

New York Giants at Green Bay (-8), Sunday, October 9

NFL Week 5 Pick: New York Giants (+8)

Recent history indicates that the Giants have owned the Packers, winning their last three overall meetings since 2012. In addition, the Giants have won three of their last four trips to the Lambeau, dating back to 2004. So although Aaron Rodgers will be having a healthy offensive line and an expectedly-improved defense in 2016, I expect Eli Manning and Odell Beckham Jr. to make this an interesting affair, with the Giants’ bound-to-improve defense also chipping in, allowing the New Yorkers to at least cover the spread in this encounter.

Tampa Bay at Carolina (-10), Monday, October 10

NFL Week 5 Pick: Carolina (-10)

Tampa Bay will be an improved team on both sides of the ball, but you would be a fool to think that they will be upsetting or even hanging close with the extremely balanced and efficient Panthers. FYI, Tampa Bay is 0-6 SU against Carolina in the last 6 overall meetings between these two teams, including double-digit losses of 37-23 and 38-10 last season.
