Too early to analyze the 2016 NFL Week 3 odds? Not really. The NFL free agency and the draft are both in books, making it a perfect time for us to present you with our educated NFL picks for Week 3 of the 2016-17 season.

Top Betting Odds and Picks for NFL Week 3

Oakland (-2.5) at Tennessee, Sunday, Sept. 25

NFL Week 3 Pick: Tennessee (+2.5)

Like most of you, I don’t expect to win many games this season, but this is one of those few games I believe they could deliver an upset. Marcus Mariota is just as capable as Derek Carr and both QBs have additional offensive pieces at their disposal, so this is likely to be a thrilling back-and-forth affair. In the end, though, I like Tennessee’s much improved running game (which includes former league-leading rusher DeMarco Murray) eking out a win for their fans.

Detroit at Green Bay (-8.5), Sunday, Sept. 25

NFL Week 3 Pick: Detroit (+8)

Say what you want about Aaron Rodger’ golden arms or the fact that he will be getting lots of his starters back healthy in the team, but there’s no way Detroit will be losing by more than a touchdown this clash. The Lions have been hanging tough with Green Bay over the recent years, including that famous game last year that Green Bay won courtesy of a lucky Hail Mary pass at the end of regulation time. If Detroit can bring its improved defense into this clash and Mathew Stafford is able to do his thing offensively, Detroit could even upset Green Bay in this game. But just to be on the safe side, take the Lions for the cheap points.

San Francisco at Seattle (-14), Sunday, Sept. 25

NFL Week 3 Pick: San Francisco (+14)

Make no mistake, Seattle is a good team and playing at home will be a big impetus for them to beat the Niners quite handily. Even so, this point spread looks a bit inflated, mostly because the San Francisco will probably get a chance to cut down the score in garbage time or simply because Seattle will likely dial down its effort knowing that they are playing a weak team hence giving the visitors a chance to hang in the game. Whichever the case, the 49ers look to offer the best early betting value here.

Chicago at Dallas (-6), Sunday, Sept. 25

NFL Week 3 Pick: Dallas (-6)

On a good day, Jay Cutler can be as dangerous as any QB in the league. The problem, though, is that Dallas is the more talented team and the Cowboys will have a healthy Tony Romo back in the lineup, along with Dez Bryant and Co. to help the team wipe off the memories of last season’s forgetful injury-laden season. That should be good enough to see the hosts claiming the win over the oft road-shaky Bears.

Atlanta at New Orleans (-1.5), Monday, Sept. 26

NFL Week 3 Pick: New Orleans (-1.5)

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that Drew Brees presence gives the Saints a big edge in this game. Chalk in a New Orleans defense that has no option but to get better after ranking worst in the league last season, Atlanta won’t be getting the win here or even keeping the game close to cover the spread.
