The Kansas City Chiefs will play host to the Houston Texans in what should be a matchup of explosive quarterbacks in the final game of the AFC Divisional round. Kansas City is coming into this one fresh off of a bye and will be playing in front of the Arrowhead Stadium faithful as one of the toughest places to play in the NFL. Houston was able to win in an overtime thriller over the Buffalo Bills and will look to continue their playoff push. Let’s take a look at the latest NFL odds for Texans vs Chiefs.

Texans vs Chiefs 2020 NFL Divisional Round Betting Lines & Prediction

Why Bet on the Houston Texans?

Deshaun Watson looked fantastic in his previous game as he went 20-25 with 247 yards and two touchdowns. He was especially good in the overtime period as he made the play of the weekend after eluding three defenders and hitting a receiver to put them in scoring position inside the five yard line. Watson was also able to rush for 55 yards and move the chains on eight of his 14 rushes. He will need to keep plays alive with his feet against a Chiefs defense that has had multiple sacks in 12 straight games.

The Texans have given up sacks at an above average rate all season long and will need to focus on keeping him upright to win this game. Wideout De’andre Hopkins will need to prove he is a top receiver as the Chiefs weaknesses have been on the defensive side of the ball. He was able to pull down six receptions for 90 yards against the Bills but will likely need more production as this game will be a shootout.

Why Bet on the Kansas City Chiefs?

This team starts and ends with Patrick Mahomes who had injuries derail his effort to repeat as MVP, but has looked to be returning to form since returning to the field. Mahomes has only turned the ball over four times this year while accounting for 27 times this season. He is about as sure with the ball as anyone in the league.

Travis Kelce has been his safety target this season as he now has four consecutive 1,000 yard seasons. He is nearing 100 receptions this season and will likely surpass that number in this game. Tyreek Hill is the game breaker for this offense though as his speed is tough to keep up with. If Hill is able to beat the defense then count on Mahomes to hit him as they are among the best deep ball combos in football.

The defense is the unit that gives people hope as they are the top team in the NFL over the last five weeks. They are allowing only 10.4 points per game over that stretch. Tyrann Mathieu has been all over the field for this team as the anchor in the secondary.

Charvarius Ward is a ProBowler this season for the first time in his career and will be key in this game as he will likely lineup across from Hopkins for the Texans. Frank Clark has also started to come alive with his sack totals rising over the final stretch of the season. Chris Jones has been a wrecking ball in the middle all season as he can collapse the line from the inside and will look to put pressure on Watson all night.

Texans vs Chiefs Expert Betting Pick

The Kansas City Chiefs are 9.5 points favorites in this game over the Texans and for good reason as the Chiefs defense will continue their dominant stretch and get to Watson early and often.

On the other side of the ball Kansas City has an offensive weapon that can beat you at almost every spot that they line someone up at. Kansas City will prove too much for this Houston team who will put up a challenge but won’t be able to keep up.
