Texans vs Patriots NFL Week 1 Lines & Pick

It is tough to bet against Tom Brady. His only opponent worth taking is time. He’s proved time and time again that he is the premier quarterback in the league. He evolves into each scenario he faces with relative ease and continues to evolve his game to suit his current strengths. Let’s check which team is offering the best NFL Betting value for Texans vs Patriots in Week 1.

Texans vs Patriots NFL Week 1 Lines & Pick

Brady Legendary Status

Tom Brady is elusive enough to slide out of harm’s way when faced with elite pass rushers like the ones he will see in this game. The record all-time in meaningful games, discrediting preseason matchups, is staggering in favor of New England. Seven victories to only one loss, coming back in 2009 to a very different Houston Texan team.

Houston is a New Look Squad

No longer can the Texans rely on outstanding running and vision from their once superstar, Arian Foster or the outstanding Andre Johnson to catch everything thrown his way. Gary Kubiak is no longer coaching and DeMeco Ryans is no longer anchoring their defense.

Plainly put, they’ve not been able to get it done against this team with their current construction.

There’s a lot to like about the current Texans though such as their stable of running backs, possibly the best in the league or their outstanding wideout in Deandre Hopkins.

Even with these talents, New England has owned them, including a 27-0 route in 2016 and Brady didn’t even play in that game. Jacoby Brissett was responsible for that dominant performance.

Patriots Looking to Go One Step Further

That leads me to the turnover in New England, aforementioned Brissett is now with the Colts as their primary backup to Andrew Luck, last year’s number one target, Julian Edelman is out on suspension, Danny Amendola is now with the Dolphins, Malcolm Mitchell and Jordan Matthews have been released, Nate Solder is with the Giants, and standout cornerback, Malcolm Butler and speedy scat back, Dion Lewis are now with the Titans.

All of that matters little though, because the comers and goers in New England have been coming and going for some time, but the winning never leaves the complex.

Texans vs Patriots in Week 1 should be a close one.

Head coach, Bill Belichick and offensive coordinator, Josh McDaniels are the calming waters that run through the otherwise chaos that is the NFL, particularly the AFC East.

Texans vs Patriots Expert Prediction

I look for Tom Terrific to pick apart this defensive unit and carve up the underneath routes to Chris Hogan, James White, Rex Burkhead, and Rob Gronkowski, while players like Cordarelle Patterson and Phillip Dorsett are left responsible for the shot plays down the field.

Although they lost many productive contributors, look for the next man up to take a leading role, whether that is Eric Decker in the red zone or Jeremy Hill in the running game, or even newcomer, Jason McCourtey to fill in at cornerback in the absence of super bowl standout, Malcolm Butler.

The Patriots always seem to find a way to gameplan around their inefficiencies and highlight their strengths in a way that makes them seem unbeatable.

Long story short, I’ll take the Patriots in this one as I don’t think the Texans are quite ready to contend with such a mastermind and smooth operator in Tom Brady and Bill Belichick.
