The NFL season will come to an end when Super Bowl 54 kicks off from Miami, Florida as the San Francisco 49ers will take on the Kansas City Chiefs. San Francisco has earned the right to play for the championship for the seventh time in franchise history. They defeated the Green Bay Packers 37-20 in dominant fashion to punch their ticket to Miami. Kansas City had to fight back from being down several times in order to best the Tennessee Titans 35-24 in what will be their first Super Bowl appearance in 50 years.

These have been two of the best teams in the NFL this season and will meet with a chance to cement themselves as one of the best teams in recent memory. Let’s take a look at the latest NFL Odds while making some predictions.

Super Bowl LIV Odds, Preview & Prediction

San Francisco 49ers

San Francisco finished last season at 4-12 which was tied for the worst record in the NFL, but have seen major roster turnover and savy offseason additions turn that team into one worthy of the Super Bowl. Jimmy Garopollo sustained a season ending knee injury last season against the Chiefs, but has returned with a big season this year.

This offense was always built on a run heavy scheme but really opened up when they traded for Emmanuel Sanders. The Niners will look to use their trio of running backs to grind the clock and keep the Chiefs offense off the field. Raheem Mostert, Tevin Coleman, and Matt Breida combine for nearly five yards a carry and over 2,000 yards.

San Francisco has 13 games this season where they have rushed for over 100 yards. Kansas City shut down Derrick Henry last week by only allowing 70 yards on the ground but still are a below average rush defense. Give the edge to the 49ers in terms of this matchup. The 49ers defense is vulnerable in the running game but are still solid at stopping the run.

Luckily the Chiefs struggle to run the ball as a primary option. Look for the 49ers to make a difference in the passing game as the secondary is led by Richard Sherman who has reemerged as a top defender at the corner position. They just need to give enough time for the pass rush to get home as they have been one of the best units in the NFL this season.

Kansas City Chiefs

This Chiefs team starts and ends with Patrick Mahomes and the weapons he has surrounding him. The reigning MVP has all pros Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce who are nearly unguardable to make plays. They provide a lethal attack that scores at will like in the Houston game where they scored seven consecutive touchdown drives.

The defense is the true question of this matchup as the secondary can hold up for themselves. They just need the front seven to step up and slow down this rushing attack of San Francisco.

Frank Clark and Chris Jones will need to be the anchors of the defensive line against a relentless rushing attack. Tyrann Mathieu is the playmaker on the back half of the D as he can take receivers out of games and always has a nose for the ball. A big game from him will be crucial for KC to win.

These two teams have gotten here by different methods as KC is the top passing team in the league while San Francisco relies on their top defense to win.

The old saying that defense wins championships is something im going to double down on with the 49ers prevailing. They have the most complete roster of both teams and have been dominant in their games. San Francisco will add another Super Bowl to their collection.
