Sunday NFL Betting Lines: Steelers vs Browns

Posted by Aaron . on December 30, 2015 in

The Pittsburgh Steelers head to Cleveland for a 1:00pm Eastern time tilt this Sunday afternoon with their playoff hopes alive — but needing some help to win a wild card berth. The Steelers are favored to win this game by 10 points on Sunday NFL betting lines, and the over/under total is 47 points.

Why should you bet on Pittsburgh (-10)?

If the Buffalo Bills knock off the Jets, and the Steelers can beat Cleveland, then the Steelers will take the wild card berth away from the Jets. The Steelers (9-6) enter the game having lost to a Baltimore Ravens team helmed by Ryan Mallett, 20-17. In that game, Ben Roethlisberger went 24 for 34 for 215 yards and two uncharacteristic picks. DeAngelo Williams carried the ball 17 times for 100 yards and two touchdowns, showing that the Steelers may have leaned a little too heavily on the pass. They should have plenty of motivation to knock off this division foe and hope that the Bills can take out some of their anger and frustration on the Jets.

Why should you bet on the Browns (+10)

Cleveland came within four points of knocking off the Kansas City Chiefs. Although their record is 3-12, they have an overtime loss against Denver and a shocking last-minute loss to Baltimore on a blocked field goal, and they have been competitive in a number of their games. Johnny Manziel is showing more poise under pressure as a starting quarterback, and his running strength is also helping the Browns now. Last week, he went 13 for 32 for 136 yards through the air (with a pick), but he also ran the ball 11 times for a whopping 108 yards — averaging almost 10 yards a carry.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

I think the Steelers will hold up their end up of the wild card bargain, but Cleveland will keep things closer than 10 points. I like the Steelers to win, 27-23.
