Pittsburgh Steelers at Cincinnati Bengals NFL Lines, Predictions

Posted by Aaron . on December 10, 2015 in

Pittsburgh (7-5) heads to Cincinnati (10-2) in a key AFC North matchup as the Bengals attempt to sweep the season series and lock up the division title with a win. In their last 11 home games against the Steelers, Cincinnati is just 2-9, and in 2014 the Steelers rolled into Paul Brown Stadium and whipped the Bengals 42-21, even though Cincinnati had been three-point favorites. This week, the Bengals are 3.5-point favorites on NFL lines, and the over-under total is 47 points.

Why Should I Bet On The Pittsburgh Steelers?

Ben Roethlisberger will be at quarterback, having overcome a couple of injuries to be back under center. He has fought through injuries to his foot and to his knee, as well as a concussion. In the last five games in which Pittsburgh has been a road underdog in December, they are 4-1 both straight up and against the spread. In fact, they have won their last eight consecutive December games both straight up and against the spread, as they traditionally make a strong playoff push.

Why Should I Bet On The Cincinnati Bengals?

The Cincinnati Bengals have overcome adversity time and time again this season, showing more resolve than they have in years past. The Bengals are 10-3 both straight up and against the spread in their last 13 games in December. If they keep winning out, they can clinch the AFC’s top seed and home field advantage through the playoffs. I expect the Bengals to remain focused on their division title and win and cover.

Steelers vs Bengals Betting Prediction

The choice on the over-under total is a little trickier. The Bengals have had a strong offense for most of the season, and the Steelers have had some inconsistency on defense this season. However, these divisional rivalries tend to bring the best out of the Steelers. So while I like the Bengals to win, I’m having a hard time deciding between a 35-28 sort of win and a 17-13 sort of win, so I’m staying away from the total proposition for this one.
