Two NFC West teams with Super Bowl aspirations will square off on Sunday, as the San Francisco 49ers host the Seattle Seahawks. This is a very important game within the division, as all four teams have a legitimate shot at a playoff berth. With all that in mind, let’s take a look at both teams to see how they arrive to this Seahawks vs 49ers matchup so you can bet against their NFL odds.
Seattle Seahawks vs San Francisco 49ers Betting Analysis
San Francisco 49ers Betting Analysis
San Francisco enters this contest with a 2-1 record. With close wins over the Detroit Lions and the Philadelphia Eagles, the Niners started the season off at 2-0. Last weekend, Aaron Rodgers and the Packers came to Levi’s Stadium and walked away with a 30-28 defeat. San Francisco had taken the lead with 37 seconds remaining in the game, but Rodgers drove the Packers down far enough for a game-winning field goal as time expired.
Injuries have been an issue for the Niners early in the season. They’ve already been through a plethora of running backs. It looks like they’ve settled on rookie Trey Sermon for now. The San Francisco defense has also had its fair share of injury issues. When healthy, the Niners have a team that can contend for a playoff spot.
The biggest question surrounding the 49ers is who will finish the season under center? Jimmy Garoppolo has started the first three games, but he has been average at best. Many are clamoring for first-round pick Trey Lance to bring a new dimension to the offense. We’ll see how long Kyle Shanahan sticks with his veteran signal caller. Sacks and turnovers have also plagued the Niners’ offense, so we’re not sure that they’re quite ready to hand things over to Lance.
Seattle Seahawks Betting Analysis
Seattle hasn’t gotten off to a good start this season as they enter Week 4 with a 1-2 record. They started off the season with a win over Indianapolis, but since then, they’ve racked up losses to the Titans and the Vikings.
Russell Wilson has gotten off to a great start. Wilson is averaging 281 yards per game through the air. The rushing attack has also been good. Led by Chris Carson, Seattle is averaging 108 yards per game on the ground. Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf have gotten off to a good start this season as well.
Defensively, Seattle no longer has the “Legion of Boom” moniker. It has been a struggle on that side of the ball. While the Seattle offense is averaging 25 points per game, the defense is giving up an average of 26 points per contest.
This is a huge game within the NFC West. With another loss, the Seahawks put themselves in a very bad position. With that being said, the oddsmakers have made the San Francisco 49ers a 2.5-point favorite. The numbers really don’t favor either team, as the Seahawks are 1-5 against the spread in their last five games. The Niners are 4-8 against the spread in their last 12.
We think that the Seahawks come into Levi’s Stadium and walk away with the outright victory. Seattle knows that their backs are against the wall, and this is a game that they can’t afford to lose.
