NFL Betting: 2021 Regular Season Match – Rams vs Colts Preview
Super Bowl 56 will be played at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. The Los Angeles Rams would love to do what the Tampa Bay Buccaneers did last season, and that’s to win the Super Bowl at their home stadium. After the acquisition of Matthew Stafford, the Los Angeles Rams feel that they have the team to make it to a Super Bowl.
In Week 2 of their quest to get to the Super Bowl, the Los Angeles Rams will look to go 2-0 after their trip to Indianapolis for a matchup with the Colts on Sunday afternoon. The Rams looked like a playoff team in their 34-14 win over the Chicago Bears last Sunday night. The Colts weren’t as lucky, as they were beaten 28-16 by the Seattle Seahawks. With all that in mind, let’s take a look at both teams to see how they arrive to this Rams vs Colts matchup so you can bet against their NFL odds.
Los Angeles Rams vs Indianapolis Colts Betting Analysis
Indianapolis Colts Analysis
The Colts made a pretty big offseason acquisition of their own, as they acquired Carson Wentz from the Philadelphia Eagles. Wentz was reunited with Frank Reich, who was the offensive coordinator during Wentz’s most productive season in Philadelphia. Wentz missed much of training camp due to injury, so he is still working his way back into form.
Last week against the Seahawks, Wentz went 25-38 for 251 yards and two touchdowns. Running back Jonathan Taylor led the Colts with 116 all-purpose yards. The backfield combination of Taylor and Nyheim Hines had over 200 all-purpose yards combined.
The Indianapolis defense was very good last year. Last weekend, they gave up some big plays to Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf. They’ll look to fix things up headed into their showdown with the Rams.
Los Angeles Rams Analysis
We’ve already talked about Matthew Stafford being the key to a long Rams playoff run. Stafford started his Rams career off with a bang, as he threw for 321 yards and three touchdowns in the Rams’ 20-point victory over the Bears. Cooper Kupp, Robert Woods, and Tyler Higbee will get a bulk of the receptions in this powerful Rams offense. Darrell Henderson Jr. along with Sony Michel will man the backfield.
We can’t forget about the Rams’ defense. They have two of the top defenders in the league in Aaron Donald and Jalen Ramsey. These two, along with a strong linebacking group make up a defense that should be an issue for the opposition.
The Los Angeles Rams are road favorites. They’re favored by 4.5 points over the Colts. The numbers look good for the Rams. They’re 4-1 against the spread in their last five games as a favorite. They’re also 9-2 against the spread in their last 11 September games.
The numbers aren’t so good for the Indianapolis Colts. They’re 0-4 against the spread in their last four games at Lucas Oil Stadium. They’re 1-4 against the spread in their last five.
We can’t argue with the numbers. We’re going to go with the Los Angeles Rams in this one. We like the Rams to go into Indy and beat the Colts by a score of 27-20. It should be a fun game to watch!
