The Baltimore Ravens and the Arizona Cardinals will both be looking to bounce back from losses the last time out when they square off in an intriguing Week 7 matchup that gets underway on Sunday live from University of Phoenix Stadium. Now, let’s find of which teams is going to strike pay dirt!
Baltimore Ravens at Arizona Cardinals Game Preview
When: 8:30 PM ET, Monday, October 26, 2015
Where: University of Phoenix Stadium, Glendale, Arizona
NFL Betting Odds: Arizona -7.5
Arizona Cardinals (4-2 SU, 4-2 ATS)
— Arizona Cardinals (@AZCardinals) October 23, 2015
The Cardinals are coming off a humbling 25-13 loss against Pittsburgh in Week 6 and never came close to covering the spread as a 5.5-point favorite. Arizona took a 10-3 lead into halftime, but got man-handled by the Steelers’ defense in the second half despite getting 421 passing yards from quarterback Carson Palmer in the loss.
“I am disappointed in the loss,” head coach Bruce Arians said. “I thought we had what it took to win on the road. We had a great week of preparation. We played OK in the first half, and then in the first five minutes of the third quarter, we didn’t come out and set the tempo. We gave up points and turned the ball over. That’s not how you want to start the second half on the road.”
The Cardinals committed three turnovers against the Steelers and were held 15 points below their league-leading average of 38.0 points per game.
Baltimore Ravens (1-5 SU, 0-5-1 ATS)
The Ravens were on the wrong end of a 25-20 loss against San Francisco the last time out and failed to cover the spread as a 2.5-point home favorite. Quarterback Joe Flacco completed 33 of 53 passes while throwing two touchdowns but the Super Bowl-winning signal-caller also tossed two interceptions in the loss. Defensively, Baltimore allowed Niners quarterback Colin Kaepernick to throw for 340 yards and two touchdowns with no picks.
Game Analysis: 60 percent of the betting public likes Arizona to get the home win and ATS cover, but I don’t! First and foremost, the Cardinals are going to face an utterly desperate Baltimore team that is going to throw everything at them but the kitchen sink.
Arizona wants to get back to playing like they were before they lost their first game and I see no reason why they won’t bring an ‘A’ effort in this contest as they try to keep their narrow division lead in the tight NFC West.
Having said that, I think the 7.5-point spread in this matchup is a few points too high for the cards to cover against a Ravens team that is a lot better than their unflattering record may indicate right now.
- The Ravens are 4-0-1 ATS in their last five road games against a team with a winning home record and 5-1 ATS in their last six Monday Night Football games, not to mention,
- 3-1-1 ATS vs. a team with a winning record.
- Conversely, Arizona is just 1-3-1 ATS in their last five Week 7 games and a winless 0-5 ATS in their last five Monday Night Football games.
My Pick: Arizona 27 Baltimore 24
