Ravens vs Bengals NFL Week 2 Odds for Thursday Night

This one will be a great game. We saw both teams play lesser teams in their previous week’s matchups, but divisional games are always closer and more competitive. These two teams know each other very well and also feature two of the longer tenured coaches in the league. Even if the players don’t know each other as well, the coaches are very familiar with one another and the schemes in which each likes to run. Let’s check the NFL Week 2 Odds for Ravens vs Bengals on Thursday Night.

Ravens vs Bengals NFL Week 2 Odds for Thursday Night

Ravens Looking for 2 Straight

First off, Baltimore looked great in their opener, but we have to take that with a grain of salt. They played what looks to be the worst team in the NFL this season and against the worst quarterback, they will likely see this year also. Veteran teams do not lose to inferior talent and especially not inexperienced, inferior talent. When Buffalo traded away Cordy Glenn and Tyrod Taylor, we should have all seen this coming.

Okay, okay, back to Baltimore. The Ravens’ defensive unit looked good against a pretty one-dimensional team behind the slew of runners Buffalo threw at them. Flacco threw for three scores and the receiving corp for Baltimore doesn’t look nearly as bad as we once thought when they offered Dez Bryant the only decent contract he would eventually turn down.

Bengals Looking Better

They won’t have such an easy time against Cincinnati this week. Cincy has a better quarterback, better receivers, a better offensive line, and a deeper backfield. Did I mention, they have an outstanding defensive line? From top to bottom, the Bengals are better than the Bills. For that reason alone, don’t expect the Ravens to repeat their blowout performance.

Cincinnati showed similar playmaking ability against the Colts, who, like the Bills, will more than likely find themselves in the bottom third of the league this season. Picking on the wimpy kid in school is hardly impressive. I can’t wait for these two to lock horns on Thursday night. Look for the Bengals to edge the Ravens in this one at home, mostly because they have a stronger running attack and bigger playmakers on the outside with none more explosive than A.J. Green.

Ravens vs Bengals is one of the best Thursday Night Game's of the 2018 Season.

Defense is a big part of the game as well, but I feel that the offensive scheme for Cincinnati will protect Andy Dalton and his flaws, while the pass rush for the Bengals will reach Joe Flacco more often than not. Don’t forget that the Bengals just signed two of their primary pass rushers to contract extensions, Carlos Dunlap and Geno Atkins. They will have a new motivation to prove they are worth the price their team paid for their services.

Pick and Prediction for Ravens vs Bengals

Let’s just see if the often penalized Bengals can avoid playing an undisciplined game to secure their second win in as many weeks. It all comes down to the time of possession, establishing the run, and keeping the penalties to a minimum for the Bengals. If they can take care of those key areas, they can take away the victory. The Bengals are the pick here at home. Take Cincinnati +1.
