Pittsburgh at Indianapolis Week 12 Betting Pick & Prediction

Posted by Peter Boysen on November 23, 2016 in

Indianapolis (5-5) enters this game hoping for revenge against the Pittsburgh Steelers (5-5), who demolished the Colts, 45-10, when the two teams met last year. Pittsburgh beat Cleveland last week, 24-9, while the Titans knocked off the Colts, 24-17, at home. A major problem for the Colts, though, is the status of Andrew Luck, who is not likely to emerge from the concussion protocol in time to take the field. Check out all of our NFL betting picks for this weekend’s action.

Pittsburgh at Indianapolis Week 12 Betting Pick & Prediction

When: Thursday, November 24, 2016, 8:30pm ET
Where: Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis
Radio: Pittsburgh / Indianapolis
Live Stream: NFL Live
NFL Odds: Pittsburgh (-8.5)

Why should you bet on the Steelers?

Pittsburgh ended a four-game losing streak by taking down the Browns, but the game was more of a grinding win than a dominant show by the Steeler offense. Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger only threw for 167 yards, with no scores, leaving the show to tailback Le’Veon Bell, who gained 146 yards. Wideout Antonio Brown should find plenty of room to run against a Colt secondary that gives up yards in bunches.

Another factor, of course, is the health of Indianapolis quarterback Andrew Luck. If he remains in the concussion protocol, Scott Tolzien will have to lead the offense, and while the Steelers do give up a lot of passing yards (#26 in the NFL), Tolzien is nowhere near the talent that Luck represents. Pittsburgh should be able to key on tailback Frank Gore, pressure the Colts into third-and- long situations and then send the blitz over and over to keep the Colts from moving the ball.

Why should you put your money on the Colts?

This is a tough argument to make with Luck on the sideline. The Colts have a talented tailback in Frank Gore, but the limits of the offensive line have kept him from having his usual season statistically. If the Indianapolis offense has to rely on him to sustain drives, that could lead to a long day for the Indianapolis fans. If Roethlisberger throws a couple of interceptions, though, the Colts could stay within that line that increased when Luck was ruled out of the game.

Betting Pick and Final Score Prediction

I don’t have a lot of confidence in the Colts without Andrew Luck at the helm — even with him healthy, this would have been a tough proposition. I predict a final score of Pittsburgh 34, Indianapolis 10.
