Betting on the New England Patriots vs Kansas City Chiefs Game Total
The New England Patriots have not been an underdog at any point in the 2015-16 NFL season, and that trend is alive and well in the AFC divisional round of the playoffs. The oddsmakers have the Patriots favored to win by five over the Kansas City Chiefs, and the over/under total has been set at 42.5 points.

Betting on Kansas City
The Kansas City Chiefs are not generally seen as one of the elite teams in the NFL, but more and more people are wondering why now that the Chiefs have won 11 consecutive games after dropping five in a row. Since their October 18 loss in Minnesota, they simply have not lost — and all but one of those wins has been by seven or more points. Six of those wins have been by at least 14 points — and they are only allowing 9.8 points per game over this stretch. In the wild card round, the Chiefs blasted the Houston Texans, 30-0, for the first playoff shutout in ten years. The Patriots do present the biggest challenge that the Chiefs have faced during their streak; Kansas City did beat Denver and Pittsburgh, but Denver lost Peyton Manning in that game, and the Steelers were starting Landry Jones at quarterback.
Betting on New England
It’s hard to remember now that New England started the season with a 9-0 record and were favorites to win the Super Bowl. However, down the stretch, the Patriots dropped four of six, and their last two. They finished with a Week 17 loss to the dreadful Miami Dolphins, and they also dropped a home game to the Philadelphia Eagles. The Patriots have been riddled by injuries all season long, particularly at running back and wide receiver in addition to their offensive line. Their defense has also seen some injuries, and the result is that even with that bye week to rest, the Patriots will still not be at 100% when the Chiefs come to town. However, the Patriots will see Chandler Jones and Julian Edelman on the field, and Tom Brady has had a solid season this year.
Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction
Gillette Stadium has been a fearsome place to play for years now, and the Patriots will be a major challenge for Alex Smith and the Kansas City Chiefs. However, Smith has elevated his game this season, and the solid Chiefs defense will exploit the holes in the Patriots’ scheme that injuries have still left wide open. I like the Chiefs to come in and win, 23-20.
