Oakland at Kansas City Week 14 Betting Pick & Prediction

Written by on December 7, 2016

The winner of this Thursday’s meeting between the Oakland Raiders (10-2) and the Kansas City Chiefs (9-3) will go a long way toward determining the AFC West champion for this season. The Chiefs have already beaten Oakland once this season, so if they can win at home, they would be tied in record but hold the head-to- head tiebreaker. The Raiders are riding a six-game winning streak, though, thanks to the improvements in their passing offense and the emergence of Khalil Mack as an elite pass rusher. The Chiefs barely escaped Atlanta last week with a 29-28 win, thanks to a “pick-two” late in the game. Let’s look at this matchup — and check out our NFL odds for all this weekend’s action.

Oakland at Kansas City Week 14 Betting Pick & Prediction

When: Wednesday, December 7, 2016, 10:30pm ET Where: Staples Center, Los Angeles TV: ESPN Radio: Oakland / Kansas City Live Stream: WatchESPN NFL Odds: Kansas City (-3.5), O/U 47

Why should you bet on the Raiders?

The Raiders have taken both of their losses at home — which means they are 5-0 on the road this year. In fact, they are 7-1 in their last road contests, dating back to last season, and they’ve covered the spread in all eight of those contests. Their offense has become a juggernaut, as they have put up at least 30 points in four of their five road contests. In their last two home games, Kansas City has put a combined 36 points on the board, and they have only covered the spread once in five home dates. The Raiders have built a winning combination between quarterback Derek Carr and his receiving corps, which opens up plenty of running room for Latavius Murray. Khalil Mack has become a real force in the pass rush, and despite Alex Smith’s mobility, he does not throw accurately on the run, which could produce some turnovers for the Raiders.

Why should you put your money on the Chiefs?

Kansas City did put up 27 points on offense last week, and they have knocked off Denver and Atlanta in consecutive wins — a nice turnaround from that disappointing home loss to Tampa Bay three weeks ago. They have a grinding running game thanks to Spencer Ware — who rumbled for 131 yards in the Chiefs’ win in Oakland. While Alex Smith doesn’t really have the deep arm to find holes in the Raider secondary, he should be able to get rid of the ball quickly enough to avoid the Oakland pass rush.

Betting Pick and Final Score Prediction

The Raiders have taken some huge steps this season, and I like them to avenge that earlier loss on Thursday night. I predict a final score of Oakland 30, Kansas City 20.
