NFL Odds Game Preview and Predictions: Oakland at Denver

Written by on December 12, 2015

The Denver Broncos (10-2) welcome the Oakland Raiders (5-7) to town this Sunday. Oakland has now lost eight straight games to the Broncos, although in their last nine games in Denver, they have covered the NFL odds spread seven times. Denver is a six-point favorite, and the over-under total is 44 points.

Can the Raiders cover the spread?

In their four road games against AFC foes this year, the Raiders are 4-0 against the spread and 3-1 straight up. When the Raiders hosted the Broncos in Week 5, they only lost 16-10 and almost covered their spread as 4.5-point home dogs. Raiders coach Jack Del Rio was the Broncos’ defensive coordinator for the past three seasons, so he is familiar with Broncos quarterback Brock Osweiler. Last week, Osweiler had the most struggles of his 2015 season so far in relief of Peyton Manning, only throwing for 166 yards.

Or should you pick the Broncos?

Brock-Osweiler-Broncos-QB-NFL-Odds-compressor Ever since Peyton Manning went to the bench with a foot injury, the Broncos are 3-0 straight up and 2-1 against the spread with Osweiler as the starter. Osweiler’s numbers aren’t huge, but he does take care of the ball and is a less risky game manager. Manning had thrown multiple picks in five games in 2015, while Osweiler has not done that at all. The Broncos probably have the best defense in the NFL right now, and when they played the Raiders in Week 5, the Broncos held the Raiders to their lowest point total for the whole season thus far. Raiders quarterback Derek Carr took four sacks, and Oakland only ran for 65 yards.

Broncos vs Raiders NFL Odds Game Prediction

The Broncos are on a roll right now, and as Osweiler gets more experience and confidence, that will only gain more momentum. Denver is 8-1 against the spread in their last nine AFC West games. I look for them to win and cover this spread against the Raiders this week.
