NFL 2020-21 Divisional Round Betting Preview
National Football Conference
(6) Los Angeles Rams @ (1) Green Bay Packers
By upsetting the Seattle Seahawks, the Rams win a great prize, a trip to the frozen tundra of Lambeau Field to take on the top-seeded Green Bay Packers. This one could be a lot of fun, as one of, if not the top defense in the league, led by the probable Defensive Player of the Year will take on the probable NFL MVP and his high-powered offense.
The Rams have the recipe to upset the Packers. If Aaron Donald is fully healthy (and even if he’s not), he can create havoc for Aaron Rodgers. Jalen Ramsey is arguably the league’s top cover cornerback, and he will be shadowing Davante Adams as much as possible. On offense, look for a steady diet of Cam Akers to keep Rodgers and the offense off of the field as much as possible.
The Packers know that they’re getting a Rams offense that have a quarterback who isn’t playing at 100%. Green Bay also knows that the Rams can’t take everything away from their offense, and Aaron Rodgers always seems to find a way to make things go his way.
The Rams have only won once at Lambeau Field in the last 24 years.
(5) Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ (2) New Orleans Saints
Tampa Bay has one of the hottest offenses in the league headed into this one. New Orleans has owned Tampa Bay this season, going 2-0, and outsourcing the Bucs by 26. The New Orleans defense has made Tom Brady look like an aging quarterback that’s past his prime.
This seems to be a different Tampa Bay team than the one that the Saints have faced this season. Now that Antonio Brown is up to speed, Brady has a full arsenal of weapons. Defensively, the Buccaneers have one of the best rushing defenses in the league. Their secondary is a little suspect, but Drew Brees can no longer throw the ball down the field like he used to.
Alvin Kamara has been a huge weapon for the Saints, so we look for him to not only run the ball, but become a huge weapon catching passes out of the backfield. The Saints defense has shown that they can be an issue for Brady, so we don’t doubt that they’ll make things difficult for him again.
They say that it’s hard to beat a team three times in one season, we’ll see if this holds true.
American Football Conference
(6) Cleveland Browns @ (1) Kansas City Chiefs
What a weekend it was for the Browns. They went into Pittsburgh and dominated their rivals on Sunday night. Now they have to try to find a way to beat the best team in football.
Cleveland’s offense came to play on Sunday night. They have one of the best offensive lines in the league. We look for the Browns to pound the ball with Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt in order to keep Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs offense off of the field.
As for the Chiefs, we know that the Browns will have a hard time stopping their passing game. We’re not sure of the status of the Chiefs running game, as Clyde Edwards-Helaire has been hurt, and Le’Veon Bell has been mostly ineffective.
This one could come down to the play of Baker Mayfield. Is he ready to become a great quarterback?
(5) Baltimore Ravens @ (2) Buffalo Bills
The Bills have been the hottest team in the NFL. They’ll take on the high-powered rushing attack of the Baltimore Ravens. Josh Allen vs. Lamar Jackson is a great quarterback matchup.
Baltimore can run the ball! They have numerous backs, and combined with Jackson, they make life difficult for opposing defenses. The Bills have a stout defense, but they’ll have a hard time containing Jackson and crew.
Buffalo’s offense is capable of putting up points in bunches. Stefon Diggs will be a hard matchup for the Ravens defense. Allen can beat you with his arm or with his legs, so this should be an interesting challenge for a Ravens group that can be very good.
Will Lamar Jackson win the battle of the 2018 Quarterback Class, or is this Josh Allen’s game to win?
