New York Jets @ Dallas Cowboys, Odds, Pick & NFL Betting Preview

NFL Week 15 marks the first Saturday night NFL betting game of the season, with the NCAA football season in its yearly pause between regular season games and the bowl season.. The game kicks off on the NFL Network this Saturday, December 19, at 8:25 PM ET.

How To Bet The Dallas Cowboys vs. New York Jets NFL Week 15 Odds

The visiting Jets are three-point favorites coming into AT&T Stadium this week, and the over/under total is 42 points. The Jets have won three games in a row (both straight up and against the spread) and are in a strong position in the AFC wild card fight. However, the Jets are 0-3 against the spread in their last three contests against Dallas.

Why should you pick the Jets at -3?

The Jets have momentum with their three-game winning streak — and they have a starting quarterback in Ryan Fitzpatrick. The Jets also have a playoff position as their motivation. During their last five December games, they have gone 5-0 against the spread.

In their last win, a 30-8 romp over the Tennessee Titans, Chris Ivory picked up 101 yards on the ground for the Jets, and Fitzpatrick threw the ball for 263 yards and three scores — with no interceptions. The Jets’ defense was stout, holding Tennessee to 24 yards on the ground on 13 attempts. If the defense can repeat that performance, the Jets should give Matt Cassel and the rest of the Cowboy offense fits.

Why should you pick the Cowboys at +3?

The Cowboys stayed with the Packers last week until late in the fourth quarter. The score was 14-0 at halftime, but the Cowboys scored a touchdown in the third quarter to draw within a touchdown. The defense got some stops, but the offense led by Matt Cassel simply could not move the ball against the Packers. It wasn’t until late in the fourth quarter that all of that time on the field caught up to the Cowboy defense and the Packers were able to score twice more on the ground. Running backs Robert Turbin and Darren McFadden gained a total of 162 yards on 16 attempts, so expect the ground game to be an area of emphasis for the Cowboys. However, expect Cassel to struggle to get the ball to Dez Bryant, as Darrelle Revis will be all over him.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

The Cowboys are 2-9 straight up and 3-8 against the spread in their last 11 games. Expect that futility to continue this week. I like the Jets to win, 24-9.
