Why should you bet on the Jaguars?

This has been a long season for the Jaguars, as they started out 2-3 but then lost nine in a row, with head coach Gus Bradley getting the gate after the Jaguars allowed backup quarterback Tom Savage to lead the Houston Texans to a 21-20 win. Blake Bortles continues to show signs of growth (22 touchdowns, 3,604 yards so far this year) but also has a hard time with turnovers (16 interceptions). It doesn’t help that tailback T.J. Yeldon, who leads the team in rushing, has only 465 yards. One factor in the Jags’ win, of course, was the loss of Titan quarterback Marcus Mariota, who broke a fabula in the third quarter. Even so, the win gave the team confidence, which they will bring with them on the plane to Indy.

Why should you put your money on the Colts?

The Colts tried their darnedest to climb out of a 33-14 hole in the fourth quarter out in Oakland, but even with Derek Carr out of the game for Oakland with a broken fibula, the Colts could not score quite enough. Matt McGloin came on for the Raiders and showed why he is a career backup, if that, but there was simply not enough time. Andrew Luck had solid numbers, going 19 for 29 for 288 yards and a pair of scores (and a pair of picks), showing the inconsistency that has plagued the Colts all season long. Indianapolis has shown that they have a far higher ceiling than what Jacksonville has right now, but they have also shown that they can give up some baffling losses. If you like the Colts, you see them righting the ship on both sides of the ball to shut down a punchy Jaguar squad.
