Houston at Indianapolis Week 14 Betting Pick & Prediction

The Houston Texans and the Indianapolis Colts enter Sunday’s contest with identical 6-6 records and in a tie for first place in the woeful AFC South (along with Tennessee). Houston took a 21-14 loss at Green Bay last week, while the Colts played their most complete game of the season on Monday Night Football in a 41-10 demolition of the New York Jets. Why should you bet on the Texans?

Despite losing to Green Bay in the snow, Texans quarterback Brock Osweiler played fairly well, racking up 202 yards and a pair of touchdowns, with no interceptions. However, wideout DeAndre Hopkins still needs to get more into the Texans’ attack, as he only hauled in three catches last week. Lamar Miller also got bottled up, picking up just 22 yards on 14 attempts. Given how many injuries have riddled the Packers’ defense, we would have expected to see more holes to open up. However, this week the Texans won’t be playing in the snow, so they should have more room to operate and feel more comfortable against a Colts team that does not play very tough defense. The Texans, meanwhile, played solid defense against Green Bay, permitting just 309 yards. Given that the defense still lacks their star, J.J. Watt, they are doing well to hold opponents to 21 points per game.

Why should you put your money on the Colts?

Andrew Luck has not played as well this year as he played on Monday night, going 22 for 28 for 278 yards and four scores. This gave him 23 touchdowns for the season, against just 8 interceptions. T.Y. Hilton had a huge night, pulling in nine receptions for 146 yards and going over 1,000 yards for the fourth straight year. On the defensive side, the Colts held the Jets to just 250 yards of total offense — just 36 yards on the ground. The Texans don’t have a prolific offense, so the Colts should be able to manage another solid effort with the division lead on the line.

Betting Pick and Final Score Prediction

I like the Colts to pound out a win here, but given how tough the Texans’ defense has been, I don’t see Indianapolis covering. I predict a final score of Indianapolis 24, Houston 23.
