NFL NFC South Divisional Odds After Draft

No division in the NFL got more offseason attention than the NFC South. With the signing of Tom Brady, the return of Drew Brees, Cam Newton being released, and Todd Gurley coming aboard, the teams in the NFC South were very busy. Let’s take a look at the odds to win the NFC South in 2020

NFL NFC South Divisional Odds After Draft

New Orleans Saints

  • Odds To Win NFC South: -110

The Saints stumbled in the 2019 playoffs with a home divisional round loss to the Vikings. The Saints are back and look to be better than their 2019 version. Drew Brees returns to lead the Saints high powered offense. With the addition of Emmanuel Sanders, Brees has a new addition to the high powered arsenal that includes Alvin Kamara and Michael Thomas. The Saints also drafted tight end Adam Trautman to go along with Jared Cook.

Defensively, the Saints also made some improvements to an already strong unit. They brought back Malcolm Jenkins to bolster their secondary. They also drafted linebacker Zack Baun to help the linebacking corps.

The Saints are one of the favorites to get to the Super Bowl in Tampa Bay. However, they’ll have to get through the tough NFC South first.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

  • Odds To Win NFC South:+160

No team had a more lively offseason than the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. With the signing of Tom Brady, the trade for the now un-retired Rob Gronkowski, and the bolstering of the offensive line, Tampa Bay is looking to make a run at the NFC South and the Super Bowl. With a receiving corps of Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Gronk, OJ Howard, and Cameron Brate, Bruce Arians will now have all the pieces that he needs for an explosive offense.

Defensively, Todd Bowles has quietly put together a very strong unit. The defense will have to contend with the strong offensive units of the Saints and Falcons. If they improve on their 2019, they will be a very good group.

Tampa Bay has a great shot at not only contending for the NFC South, but also making a big playoff run.

Atlanta Falcons

  • Odds To Win NFC South: +650

The Falcons had a disappointing 2019 season. They were expected to be a playoff team, and struggled throughout much of the season. They’re looking for a much better 2020. Matt Ryan still has Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley. They also signed Todd Gurley to replace Devonta Freeman. Austin Hooper left via free agency, but the Falcons acquired Hayden Hurst to fill his spot. Atlanta’s offense has the potential to be a strong unit.

Defensively, they really struggled last season. They did sign Dante Fowler, Jr.  but were hit hard by free agency. They did try to address their defensive needs in the draft, but it may not be enough.

The Falcons will have to put up a ton of points to make up for their lackluster defense. It could be a long season in Atlanta.

Carolina Panthers

  • Odds To Win NFC South:+1300

It’s a rebuilding year for the Panthers. Matt Rhule was hired as the new head coach after the firing of Ron Rivera. Cam Newton was released, and Teddy Bridgewater was signed to be the new quarterback. Christian McCaffrey will be the focal point of the offense.

Rhule used all of seven of his draft picks on defense, so the Panthers defense will be a work in progress this season.

The NFC South will have two very good teams this season. The Saints and the Bucs have the potential to be Super Bowl contenders.
