Falcons vs Jaguars 2019 NFL Preseason Week 4 Odds & Prediction

Week 4 of the NFL Preseason is usually looked at as meaningless football. Very few, if any, established NFL players ever see any action in the fourth week. This is the week where the players who are fighting for the final few roster spots get to make their final push for a spot on the team.

This week’s preseason game will have a little more meaning for the Atlanta Falcons as they take on the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Falcons are currently on a 12-game preseason losing streak, and with a loss against the Jaguars, the Falcons would be winless in their third consecutive preseason. They’ll look to try to end their losing streak this Thursday night in Jacksonville.

Ironically enough, the Falcons last preseason victory was against Jacksonville. On September 1, 2016, the Falcons defeated the Jaguars 17-15 in a Week 4 preseason matchup. Although the Falcons lost last week to the Redskins, and only put up 7 points in doing so, there still were some good things that happened for Atlanta.

Let’s take a look at the latest NFL Odds while making some predictions.

Falcons vs Jaguars 2019 NFL Preseason Week 4 Odds & Prediction

Falcons Finishing Preseason

Matt Ryan looked good in his final appearance of the preseason. Even though they only scored 7 points, the offense under Ryan moved the ball. He hit five different receivers, and this was without Julio Jones on the field. Defensively, the Falcons limited the Redskins to just 19 points.

With the defense being Atlanta’s downfall over the years, they can take some good things away from the defensive performance. Atlanta does have one big decision to make after Thursday night’s game. The Falcons have yet to decide on their kicker for the upcoming season. Giorgio Tavecchio and Blair Walsh are competing for the starting job.

Thursday night’s performance could determine who wins the job coming out of camp.

Jacksonville Seeking Improvement

As for the Jaguars, they’re looking for big improvements from their offense this year, as Nick Foles was brought in to replace Blake Bortles. In his first action of the preseason, Foles went 6-10 for 48 yards and a touchdown in a loss to Miami. With Foles under center, the Jaguars offense should be more stable.

They’ll be looking from big contributions from Leonard Fournette, who if he stays healthy, could be a top back in the league, and from wideout Dede Westbrook. Defensively, the Jaguars should be one of the top units in the league.

Throughout the preseason, their first round pick out of Kentucky, Josh Allen, has been very impressive. He will make an already stout unit, that much better. In this game, we should see a lot of rookie Gardner Minshew under center for the Jaguars, and Danny Etling taking control of the Falcons huddle.

It may not be pretty, but the coaching staffs will want to see if these guys can handle things if one of the starters were to go down.

Lots at Stake for Some Players in Falcons vs Jaguars

With some positional battles and roster spots still up for grabs, we should see a lot of hard hitting action in this game. Atlanta will be trying to break their 12-game preseason losing streak, while the Jaguars will be trying to decide how to finalize their roster. Falcons vs Jaguars it should be a good matchup.
