Eagles vs Saints NFC Divisional Round Betting Lines & Prediction

The Eagles come in riding the high of a Cody Parkey missed a field goal to send them to New Orleans. The Saints will look to cap off their season with a deep playoff run. After resting their players during a well-deserved bye week, the Saints should look awfully sharp. We’ll see if the Eagles have enough magic in the tank to pull the upset in this one. Star power will be out in full force as Michael Bennett, Chris Long, Alshon Jeffery, and the Eagles meet the tandem of Mark Ingram and Alvin Kamara, Drew Brees, Cam Jordan, Michael Thomas, and the Saints.

The one thing I’m really looking forward to is the fact that Philadelphia’s running back, Darren Sproles will be playing another game in New Orleans. He has had some electric plays in that city and I expect to see at least a few more in this game.

The spread is currently locked in at 9 points with the Vegas pick to win going to the Saints. I think the Eagles have a chance here. They have some magic happening there and they do embrace the underdog mentality, but I think the opportunity here is to bet the Eagles to cover, despite falling short to the Saints. I think it will remain a relatively close game due to the offensive prowess of both head coaches.

Eagles vs Saints Head to Head

The two teams have played three times since 2014, with the Saints taking home victories in two of those meetings. Their most recent game was decided by a final score of 48 – 7. Before that, the Eagles took home the win by a score of 39 – 17. 26 – 24 was the final score in 2014 when the Saints were victorious.

Eagles vs Saints Stats

The Saints, behind Alvin Kamara and Mark Ingram, have the sixth best rushing attack in the league this year. Of course, Drew Brees has also produced well this season, helping his team reach the 12th best position in passing yards. As a total offense, the team ranks 8th in the NFL.

Eagles vs Saints is the best NFL Divisional Round game.

Their defense has been steadily improving over the past few years and they currently find themselves with the 14th best defensive unit in the sport. It’s been a while since they’ve been in the top half in all major categories, especially defense. As for the Eagles, they have the 14th best offense overall, including the 7th best passing game and 28th best, or fourth worst rushing attack in the league. Losing Jay Ajayi early in the year really hurt the team and their ability to remain balanced on offense. On defense, they have really underperformed, ranking 23rd in the league.

Eagles vs. Saints Prediction

The Eagles have to be riding high after what Nick Foles has been able to do for the team and their emotional win against Chicago last week. Winning in that fashion has a way of making you feel invincible though, something they cannot have going into New Orleans to face this opponent. If they have any chance to win this game, they have to play nearly perfect. I think Nick Foles’ luck runs out here. The Eagles will lose their chance to repeat as Super Bowl champions with a final score of 31 – 24.
