Thursday Night Football will come to us from Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, as the Philadelphia Eagles host the defending Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Both teams are coming off of strong victories, as the Eagles defeated the Carolina Panthers while the Bucs dominated the Miami Dolphins. With that in mind, let’s take a look at both teams and how they arrive to this match so you can wager against their NFL odds.

Philadelphia Eagles vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers Betting Analysis

Philadelphia Eagles Analysis

The Eagles will come into the short week with some momentum, as they beat the Panthers last Sunday. The Eagles need some momentum, as they’ve lost their previous three games at Lincoln Financial Field. After trading Carson Wentz in the offseason, the team is now under the leadership of Jalen Hurts.

Hurts has had an up-and-down season thus far. He’s thrown for 1,365 yards with seven touchdowns and three interceptions. Hurts is also the team’s rushing leader with 265 yards and three touchdowns. Rookie wide receiver DeVonta Smith has had a nice season. Dallas Goedert and Zach Ertz have made a good receiving combination from the tight end position. Other than Hurts, the Eagles running attack has struggled.

The Eagles’ defense has had a nice season. They played very well last Sunday against the Panthers. They intercepted three Sam Darnold passed and held him to just 177 yards through the air. We’ll see how well they can handle themselves against one of the top offenses in the NFL, which is led by one of the best quarterbacks ever to play the game.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers Analysis

The Buccaneers look like a team ready to make another Super Bowl run. Tom Brady is playing better than ever and continues to win his battle with Father Time. Brady has thrown for nearly 1800 yards with 15 touchdowns and two interceptions.

Even though he has been without Rob Gronkowski over the last few weeks, the receiving corps is still one of the best in the league. You won’t find a better receiving trio in the league, led by Chris Godwin, Mike Evans, and Antonio Brown.

The Tampa Bay ground attack hasn’t taken off like many hoped it would. They’re averaging just 82 yards per game on the ground. Leonard Fournette is their leading rusher on the season. Ronald Jones II and Giovani Bernard also play prominent roles in the Tampa run game.

Defensively, the Bucs haven’t been what they were at the end of last season. On their way to the Super Bowl title, the Tampa Bay defense was dominant. They’re still one of the best run-stopping teams this year, but the secondary has had some issues. They’re allowing nearly 25 points per game while giving up 360 yards per contest. The Bucs are only giving up 46 yards per game on the ground, so the passing defense will need to improve if the Bucs want to repeat as Super Bowl champions.

Let’s take a look at the betting numbers surrounding this game. Seven points favor Tampa Bay. The numbers tend to lean towards the Eagles. Philadelphia is 4-0 against the spread in their last four home games while also going 5-1 against the spread in their last six Thursday night games. Tampa Bay is 1-4 against the spread in their previous five games as a road favorite.

Even though we don’t like to do it, we’re going to go against the numbers and pick the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to win by ten and cover the spread.
