NFL Lines Game Predictions: Dallas at Green Bay

The Dallas Cowboys (4-8) are only a game out of first place in the NFC East, so they head to Green Bay (8-4) with a shot to remain in the divisional race with a NFL lines win. The Cowboys did win in Washington on Monday Night Football, upsetting the Washington Redskins last week with a 19-16 win. The Packers beat Detroit last Thursday, after falling behind 20-0, as Aaron Rodgers threw a 61-yard bomb to deliver the win against a Lions defensive scheme that was baffling in its ineffectiveness. Green Bay is a five-point favorite, and the over-under total is 44 points.

Should you even think about picking the Cowboys?

It’s true that Tony Romo is on the shelf for the rest of the season, and neither backup option the Cowboys have tried (first Brandon Weeden and then Matt Cassel) has been able to do anything with the Cowboys offense. It’s almost like the offense is a car with an ignition lock, and only Romo’s fingerprints will start the engine. However, the Cowboys do have three wins in the division so they hold some important tiebreakers — and they split with the Eagles and Giants. If they can beat the Packers, keep rolling and then beat Washington at home, they could be a division champ, even with a 7-9 or 6-10 record, depending on how everyone else plays. The Cowboys started 2-0 and since have gone 2-8, but most of those losses (except the ones to New England and Carolina) have been by less than a touchdown. Green Bay has played poorly at home this year, already losing to Detroit and Chicago. This is not a team that has been covering spreads reliably.

Should you take Green Bay?

You can look at the Packers’ win over Detroit in one of two ways: as a ridiculously lucky outcome in a game that they did their best to give away, but they did mount an impressive comeback in the second half. When the Packers are all on the same page, this is a dangerous team to play. The last time the Cowboys came to Lambeau Field, they almost won in the divisional playoff round, but Romo and DeMarco Murray aren’t on the roster anymore.

Packers vs Cowboys final NFL Lines Betting Predictions

I see nothing standing in the way of a Packer win and cover here. When the Cowboys and Packers have played, the favored team is 17-3 straight up and 15-5 against the spread. Look for that to continue on Sunday.
