NFL Conference Round Straight Up Betting Picks

Los Angeles Rams Down New Orleans Saints

Drew Brees and his New Orleans Saints are the favorites at home over the Los Angeles Rams. New Orleans was the first team to beat the Rams this season. Can they do it again? I don’t know if the Rams are a team or if Sean McVey is a coach that can be bested twice by the same team in the same year.

Picking the Rams to win on the road is about a few things, but the most important one is their ability to creatively get Todd Gurley involved in their offensive strategy. He is their workhorse and he is the one who will ultimately be the piece that either moves them forward or holds them back.

They will need to isolate him against the linebackers and safeties of the Saints in order to utilize him in the passing game and continue to deliver a steady dose of play action passes to keep the Saints on their toes and from plugging the gaps. Gurley is a talented runner and if he can be the aggressor, he should have success. Betting on them to upset the Saints or to lose to the Saints by only a field goal or less is the best bet here, in my opinion.

They have the most complete team from top to bottom and can beat you in a variety of ways. The Saints, on the other hand, have three players that can hurt you- Michael Thomas, Mark Ingram and Alvin Kamara. Drew Brees is what makes it work for the three. If those three can be shut down or limited, the Saints have little chance to defeat the Rams no matter where they play. This is a game the Rams win. They are not scared of New Orleans, and head to the Super Bowl.

Brady and the Patriots Take Down the Chiefs

It’s quite a surprise to see Tom Brady and his New England Patriots as the underdog. While people are loving Kansas City, and the weather is going to be cold, the Patriots are the team to beat here in our mind.

The Chiefs are favorites to win the NFL Conference Round against the Patriots.

The Chiefs have something special in Patrick Mahomes, but the Patriots are nothing to mess with in the playoffs. They have been to more super bowls than any other team in recent history and Tom Brady, if he hasn’t already proven it, will prove that he is indeed the greatest of all time.

The Chiefs have a very suspect defense and New England’s offense is well equipped to take them on with great success. They have dynamic running backs that can be used in the passing game and their wide receivers are some of the best at getting short yardage routes and turning them into long, draining possessions that can keep Mahomes off the field. On defense, they have the defensive backs to match up with what the Chiefs like to do.

If they can shut down the home run play, then they should be just fine keeping the Chiefs at bay. This is a game the Patriots are going to win, and prove all the doubters and the oddsmakers wrong. When you are betting this game, win some money and take the Patriots to beat the Chiefs.
