NFL Betting: 2021 Season – Chicago Bears at Pittsburgh Match Preview

Written by on November 8, 2021

Two of the NFL’s storied franchises will square off on Monday Night Football, as the Pittsburgh Steelers will host the Chicago Bears at Heinz Field.

These two teams are headed in opposite directions, as the 4-3 Steelers are in contention for the AFC North, while the 3-5 Chicago Bears have lost three in a row and are seemingly headed for a rough end to their season. With that in mind, let’s take a closer look at the upcoming match between Chicago Bears and Pittsburgh Steelers so you can bet against their NFL odds.

Chicago Bears vs Pittsburgh Steelers Betting Analysis

Chicago Bears Analysis

The Bears handed the reins over to rookie first-round draft pick Justin Fields earlier this season. While Fields has shown flashes of greatness at times, he is still very inconsistent. Injuries to key offensive players haven’t helped Fields’ development, but a greater issue has been poor offensive line play.

Fields has been sacked 26 times this season. He has also thrown seven interceptions, but some of that has been due to the heavy pressure he has been under.

The Bears’ running game has been good over the last few weeks. Rookie Kalil Herbert has been impressive, and starter David Montgomery should be ready to return from injury on Monday night.

Defensively, the Bears will be without Khalil Mack again this week. A bad foot has hindered the Bears’ top pass rusher, and this will be a big blow for the Bears, who have struggled to get to the quarterback this season. A lack of a pass rush has put the Bears secondary into some tough situations.

The secondary will also be without starting safety Eddie Jackson, who will miss this week’s game due to injury. We’ll see if they can play better against Pittsburgh than they did last week against the San Francisco 49ers.

Pittsburgh Steelers Analysis

The Steelers have had their own issues at the quarterback position. As Ben Roethlisberger nears the end of his career, his skills are diminishing. He is losing the battle with Father Time, and he has also had his fair share of nagging injuries.

Fortunately for him, he has had rookie sensation Najee Harris behind him. Harris has rushed for nearly 500 yards and has almost 300 receiving yards on the season. Besides Harris, receivers Diontae Johnson and Chase Claypool have been the biggest offensive weapons for Pittsburgh.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Steelers have the players to give Fields and the Bears offense fits. The Steelers are only giving up 21 points per game. They haven’t gotten to the quarterback as much as they have in the past, but TJ Watt will give the Bears offensive line fits.

The Steelers are the home favorites, as the oddsmakers have favored them by 6.5 points. Both teams have struggled against the spread this year as the Steelers are 3-4, while the Bears are 3-5. We just think that the Steelers are playing better than the Bears at this point, and the Pittsburgh defense is starting to play up to its capabilities.

Justin Field will have issues with the Pittsburgh pass rush and will make some key mistakes. We like the Steelers to win this one 24-14.
