Broncos vs Raiders NFL Week 16 Odds & Pick for Monday Night

Posted by Derrick Harper on December 19, 2018 in

Another week in the NFL, another bitter divisional rivalry. The Denver Broncos will look to take it on the road and travel to Oakland looking for a win against their most hated rival. Jon Gruden’s Oakland Raiders look to notch another win on their season, which to this point, has been a disappointing fire sale. After losing Khalil Mack and Amari Cooper to trades, losing Martavis Bryant to suspension, and firing their longtime General Manager, Reggie McKenzie, can the Raiders restore their previous luster? Can the Broncos continue to run the ball effectively enough to hide their inconsistencies on offense? When will their defense emerge as a league leader? We’ll seek these answers come Monday night as Broncos vs Raiders teams duke it out on Christmas Eve with the Broncos coming in as the NFL Betting favorites.

Broncos vs Raiders NFL Week 16 Odds & Pick for Monday Night

Broncos Failing to Make Postseason

Currently, the Denver Broncos are below the league average in most categories. Their total offensive production falls at 18th best in the NFL and their defense comes in as the 25th best unit in the league, not too great considering they’ve invested a lot on that side of the ball in recent drafts. On offense, they do have a glimmer of greatness in their running back room.

Phillip Lindsay, Devontae Booker, and Royce Freeman have combined for the league’s 11th best rushing attack. Tow of those three are rookies, while Booker, the eldest of the bunch is just 26 years old himself. Their passing game comes in at 19th best, again below league average. This team has found something with their running game, but beyond that, have failed to find things that consistently work that they can identify with. THeir passing attack is inconsistent and their defense, which has to be dominant for their team to succeed, is not.

Raiders Ready for Draft

The Oakland Raiders are not going to wow anyone either with statistics. Perhaps, the most alarming statistic is their record at 3 – 11. They, like the Broncos, have one area that they seem to do relatively well in. Passing the football seems to be that area of expertise for the Raiders.

Broncos vs Raiders is the last Monday Night Football of the season.

They are 14th in the league, just above the league’s average. Rushing the ball has been a struggle for them as they come into this game with the 26th best rushing attack. As a whole, their offense is 23rd in the league. Their defense hasn’t been able to hold many offenses down either as they rank 23rd in the NFL.

Pick and Prediction for Broncos vs Raiders

I predict that the Broncos will be able to run at this defense. Oakland’s lack of a run game will force them to pass early and often, which can lead to unnecessary turnovers and pressure on their quarterback. This Broncos defense, although the stats don’t show it, is not the unit to take extra dropbacks against.

Von Miller and Bradley Chubb will make it a nightmarish day for Derek Carr if he passes the ball too often. Ball control, turnovers, and clock management will surely be a factor in this game and I just like the Broncos more, even on the road to come.
