When all of the dust had settled, and the smoke had cleared, and the Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers were headed to the Super Bowl, we all knew what the top story was going to be. We knew that we would be spending two weeks discussing the Tom Brady vs. Patrick Mahomes matchup. Brady is arguably the greatest quarterback in the history of the NFL, while many are predicting that before his career is over, Mahomes will challenge Brady for that title. When breaking down the matchups in Super Bowl 55, many will ask if this is an even quarterback matchup? Let’s briefly analyze that question so you can get ready to make your bets against their Super Bowl odds.

Patrick Mahomes vs. Tom Brady: Is it an even QB Matchup?

Brady is playing in his 10th Super Bowl, and will be looking to hoist the Lombardi Trophy for the seventh time. Everyone knows that he has the edge in experience. His mind for the game is second to none, and he has shown a penchant for coming up big in the clutch. However, with that being said, at 43 years old, Brady has shown signs of slipping.

Brady’s physical skills have deteriorated. He still has a strong arm, but he can’t make the deep throw like he used to. At times, he still thinks that he can make plays that the 30-year old Brady could make. He tries to thread the needle, or avoid a pass rush, and will make an errant throw that turns into an interception.

As for Mahomes, at 25 years old, he’s quickly becoming one of, if not the best quarterback in the game. His arm strength is second to none, and he has shown that he also possesses the clutch gene, as he has made some huge game-deciding plays throughout his career. Statistically, at the pace that he is on, he could challenge many of Brady’s records at an earlier age.

When we’re talking about Super Bowl 55, both quarterbacks have loaded offensive arsenals. While the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have the better receiving group, the Chiefs have the best receiver on the field in Tyreek Hill. Tampa’s trio of Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, and Antonio Brown will cause issues for the Chiefs, but we have yet to find a secondary that can deal with the speed and elusiveness of Hill.

Rob Gronkowski may be one of the greatest tight ends of all time, but Travis Kelce will be the better tight end in this game. As for the running games, neither team has an elite running back. Both teams use multiple backs throughout the game.

Super Bowl 55 will be a fun game to watch. We’ll see two master craftsmen at work. Brady will be fighting to win his seventh ring, while Mahomes will be looking to become the youngest quarterback ever to win multiple Super Bowls. All in all, this matchup is fairly even. Even though Mahomes has the better physical attributes, you can’t argue with Brady’s experience and his ability to win. This game will more than likely be decided by which quarterback plays the better game. In this one, we’re going to give the slight edge to Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.
