NFL Betting News & Rumors – Teams, Players, Coaches on the Hot Seat, Etc.
What a horrible year it has been for the Houston Texans. First they trade away DeAndre Hopkins for pennies on the dollar. They then fire their head coach/general manager Bill O’Brien. Following a 4-12 season, Texans fans were hoping for something good to happen. Unfortunately, the news for the Houston fanbase got even worse.
After the Texans consulted star quarterback Deshaun Watson on potential GM candidates, and they failed to even interview some of his preferred candidates, Watson decided that he wanted out of Houston. The trade rumors have been swirling around Watson. Numerous teams would love to have him under center, but it would come with a huge price tag, as Houston would want an astronomical amount of top draft picks and/or players for Watson.
Some teams rumored to be in play for Watson are the Miami Dolphins and the New York Jets. Both of these teams have draft picks and assets that could net them Watson. Both teams have young former 1st round quarterbacks that could also be included in a trade package.
As for head coaching openings, the Texans are the last team in the league without a head coach. After doing an initial round of interviews, the Texans have narrowed their search to two candidates, Buffalo defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier, and Ravens assistant head coach David Culley. A name that many thought would be a frontrunner for the job was Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, but surprisingly, he didn’t make the final two.
It’s never too early for draft experts to release mock drafts. In many of the mock drafts that have been released, four quarterbacks are being pegged to be drafted in the top 10. Trevor Lawrence, Zach Wilson, Justin Fields, and Trey Lance could be picked early in the draft. Alabama quarterback Mac Jones could also sneak into the upper half of the first round as well.
Get ready for the quarterback carousel to start spinning. We don’t know where Dak Prescott stands with the Dallas Cowboys right now. Prescott could be a free agent if the Cowboys don’t franchise him or they can’t come to an agreement on a long-term deal. The Los Angeles Rams have also announced that there will be a competition between Jared Goff and John Wolford for the Rams starting quarterback position. Matthew Stafford available in a trade, we don’t know if Derek Carr fits into the Raiders long term plans, and after Sunday’s loss, we’re not sure where Aaron Rodgers stands with the Green Bay Packers. It could be a very interesting offseason when it comes to starting quarterbacks in the NFL.
